March 6, 20224 yr I have just fitted a Bafang mid drive. Will it require re-greasing and how often. Thanks for any guidance.
March 10, 20224 yr I haven't applied grease to my bbs01b motor yet, though by now I probably should after 1,450+ miles. Aeroshell and Mobil Mobilith SHC 100 are mentioned on these forums, but I don't know if they're safe in contact with nylon gears. Maybe someone more knowledgeable might advise: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/144442303766?hash= https://www.shell.com/business-customers/aviation/aeroshell/aeroshell-greases/grease-22.html https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mobil-Mobilith-Lithium-Synthetic-100-380g/dp/B0848X9FX5 https://www.mobil.com/en/lubricants/for-businesses/industrial/lubricants/products/products/mobilith-shc-100 Edited March 10, 20224 yr by guerney

March 10, 20224 yr Synthetic is safe, aeroshell and the like. Thanks, that's good to know nealh - in that case the huge tin of Aeroshell on ebay is a bargain, and they currently have more than 10 available.
March 10, 20224 yr I don't know if other members have experienced the same problem as me, when using the less viscous greases on the final drive. It would always disappear from the large and smaller cog area, behind the final drive assembly where the PAS disc and shaft is located. It wouldn't last particularly long on the cogs, before it did a runner behind the scenes. Then the drive would become noticeably noiser and I would have to reapply. Nowadays, I lubricate the final drive with open gear grease, which is thicker and stickier than the norm, so tends to stay on the cogs much longer. I'm not suggesting this is the best grease to use, but it works for me and has appeared to cut down on maintenance intervals.
