The metal case is needed as a heatsink.

It might help if you tell us which controller you got.

It was a KT 17a sinewave.

Should have got the 15A one because it's the correct size. You should have said.

There are loads of settings you have to get right for them to work. Download the manual for your LCD and go through them, particularly C4 and P4, which affect how the PAS and throttle work. If you get stuck on any, just ask.

Cheers will do. The 15a was the same size as the 17a so I thought I would go a bit higher for a couple of quid extra.

I will look at the manual tomorrow, Surprised and pleased the throttle works, you hear loads of people say you will never get a Halfords Carrera to work with a throttle.

Now I need some female to female brake cable adapters.

Any ideas?

The 15A one is smaller unless you found a special small 17A one, but then it should fit. 15A should be 31x51x86mm, 17A is 35x61.3x92.5. What size is yours?

Took it out today after setting up max speed to 72kmph, wheel size to 20 inches, and changed from kmph to mph.

It went great, better than a stock one I imagine. speed was nearly 20mph with throttle only and power assist worked great.

Did about 5 miles on the flat and up some hills with power assist 5, well impressed!

I have a small bag to put the controller in just behind the seat tube and rack, fits perfect.

Still need to find some female to female 3 pin brake cables as the 5 to 1 cable came with male connectors don't know why as the brake levers also have male connectors?

It must be a decent motor, I'm 15 stone and a bit and it pulls me along no problem.

So its just a tidy up and up for sale.

Cheers.

You only need one brake switch. Cut off the connectors and solder the wires, which will be cheaper, quicker, simpler and more reliable than buying and fitting connectors.

The best thing about KT controllers is their current control, which only works with the pedal sensor. Did you set the power mode to current control (torque simulation)?

No I don't think so, what does that mean and where will I find it?

Cheers

Just had a second look at the brake connectors, the ones on the bike are red 2 pin and the ones on the controller are yellow 3 pin. Looks like I need some new levers.

I told you, you only need one switch and you can join the wires. You don't need connectors. Three wire ones have 5v, ground and signal, Two wires are ground and signal. You join ground to ground and signal to signal. No need for 5v with two wire ones.

Sold the bike and buyer happy even with no brakes electrically connected.

Looking for my next project! fancy a Mate X. Moose have a shop on eBay that sell the Mate X that have various parts missing.

They look like they need at least a display and a speed controller, probably more.

Thanks for you help with the Carrera everyone.
