I'm not convinced this is a no-load pedal assist speed test, or perhaps I'm in denial like a crocodile.

Police warn public after three e-bikes seized in Witney

They said they had footage of the bikes travelling at high speed in the centre of Witney and colliding with people.

One of the bikes seized above has no chain or freewheel. Is it a front hub motor fitted to the rear ?

Also I cant see a rear brake. I suppose with that big motor, its possible that there is some type of regenerative braking on the rear?

Witney: Police issue warnings after e-bikes seized

" Now the service has released more details about the confiscated bikes.

One of them could reach speeds of up to 45mph, had no pedals attached and – according to the police – would be classified “under the government guidance” as a “moped/motorcycle”.

A second vehicle could also go over 40mph and like the first did not display the correct information required for an e-bike.

While the final bike confiscated could reach 20mph – over the UK limit – it did display the correct markings."

Gwent Police’s drone tactics target Illegal e-bikes and anti-social riders

"Gwent Police’s crackdown on illegal e-bike riding is centred on Operation Harley, which councillors heard has so far resulted in nearly 100 vehicles being seized and taken off the roads. "

Leeds Police Seize Illegal High-Speed E-Bike at Elland Road Station

"The man had attended the station regarding an unrelated matter, but officers from the Leeds District Off Road Bike Team quickly took interest in the unusual vehicle he rode in on.

A roadside speed test revealed that the e-bike was capable of reaching speeds of 61.5mph, well above the legal limit for e-bikes in the UK."

Yes the Police is very active.... and they are out and about... and can not see criminals in front of their own door:

Took this pic, because I thought is was (tragically) funny.....:

Don’t know, but this “bikes” have nothin good with “Ebikes” Electric motorcycle/ mopeds or whatever.... but NOT e-bikes and it is more than right, that these things are crunched up and seized...

It’s different if they would get a MOT, insurance and numberPlate, than that would be alright and there is nothing against.... but classes them as “illegal e-bikes” is wrong.... illegal vehicles or something.. is more to compare like cars and Stockcars - one is legal, the other illegal.... no one would drive around in a Stockcar on a Public road... Is all common sense ....

I agree they are not Pedelechs.

They are just electric motor bikes, there is an obvious market for getting these type of motor bike on the road legally with all the relevant regulations insurances and driving license ECT if One wants to ride and use them on the roads.

E-Bikes Seized As Police Tackle illegal Use

Police seized two e-bikes during an operation targeting people using them illegally in Market Harborough town centre.

"Officers found the bikes had been adapted to travel at higher speeds than permitted, with neither having chains linking the pedals to the back wheels."

If people are going to use e bikes or e motorcycles that look like the ones in previous pictures or you load a bicycle up with huge motors and batteries then the Police and other agencies are going to stop you and seize the bikes.

However I am finding it’s a bit like solar every one wants just that little bit more than they can currently get.

I think most of us want to just push things or to use a metaphor “ Sail very close to the sun “ and hope we don’t get burned!!

I am curious when one of these bikes will be imported and legal on the road....

And here the UK version....:

History repeats the Japanese used cycle’s with great effect to move against the British in the far east during WW2.

If a battalion of infantry had big powerful silent e bikes with air cover they can change the dynamic of a battle and not break down if they ran out of fuel!!!
