I know it says somewhere on the forum but i can't find it. What is considered flat. Is it when the lights are flashing on the controller/battery ?..Its just that i have done this and i appear to be getting about 30 miles between charges.Looking at Fleccs write up i would have expected a little more.Is it that i am not discharging the battery enough to get a zero point ?

For the purpose of conditioning, I take flat to mean when the battery cuts out.

 

It is difficult to say how many miles you should achieve from a full battery, there are too many variables.

maybe the flashing lights are frightening me to recharge it too early...although i did notice a lack of power from start but it definately wan't dead

I think it flashes at 1Hz to signify that you are approaching a flat battery and 2Hz when it actually cuts out. It will feel very tired as you approach the 2Hz mark.

 

It's best to avoid running it so low once you have done the conditioning cycles.

Yes, you'll typically get three to five more miles after it starts flashing, maybe less, maybe more, depending on the variables.

 

And that's the trouble, everyone's terrain is different, body weights vary greatly, fitness/input is very variable by individual, so we are back to the "how long is a piece of string" sort of thing.

the second time 31 miles,still flashing but not dead,i recharged but should have waited a bit longer....now i have covered 21 miles and its started flashing so this time i will persevere,,so are we saying that it will still have flashing lights or will they stop completely ? Its just unsettling when it doesn't say anything in the user guide.....

At 21 miles you will be see the last "power" light start to flash, indicating that there is approx 10% capacity remaining in the battery (3-5 miles as Flecc says).

 

When conditioning the battery, keep cycling for those extra miles.

 

At the end, you will feel the motor cut out, and the last "power" light will flash twice as quickly. (The lights will all go out after approx 3 minutes).

Carpetbagger, I bought an Agattu about the same time as you (having gone through a similar Agattu/Emotion/Wisper debate). I managed 42 miles and 44 miles, with a mixture of modes before the battery cut out. When the last LED was flashing on my first run I expected a fairly imminent cut out of the battery. I was quite surprised how much longer it continued. I got a good few more miles out of it, and did numerous circuits round the block to avoid being at the bottom of a hill when it cut out. Not sure what the neighbours made of my behaviour.

Well, according to the manual (under the title "LED status on the control panel")when the LEDs on the control panel are blinking slowly there is 9% capacity left and recharging is recommended. When they blink rapidly and go out after 3 minutes the battery is dead. But this wasn't my experience. I could feel and hear that I had no power but the light continued to flash. So you'll just have to wait and see what happens!

 

There's no mention in the manual of conditioning the battery and its only thanks to this forum I know anything about it.

On my agattu, I get the power light flashing once per second when it gets down to 10%, twice per second when it gets down to something lower (perhaps 2%) when there's only a very minimal assist provided, and eventually the power assist level light on the handlebars next to the Mode button goes out, and you can't select a power assist level anymore because all the lights are out - The battery indicator continues to flash twice/sec.

 

When I noticed the behaviour, I thought that was pretty neat way to indicate that the assistance is no longer available. Even if you turn the power off and on again, the mode lights will all still be off and the battery light will flash twice/sec.

thanks for all the help, night ride was abandoned as the heavens open...and i didn't want to get my pride & joy wet !!!....i am off this afternoon so weather permitting i should get to the stages mentioned..
