July 29, 2025Jul 29 Did get told off by a pedal cyclist coming the other on a shared path while carrying my petite passenger on Radrunner. "Those motorbikes shouldn't be on the pavement" he said, as I slowed down. Wasn't helped by a second fat tired ebike zooming by, overtaking the cyclist against us regardless. Anyway, no harm done, except old boys ruffled feathers. Trouble is some people do presume one is going faster just because it's got fat tyres. Maybe if I paint it green or wear a long blond wig ?
July 30, 2025Jul 30 Starting to get really annoyed with silly folk spoiling my wife and mines rides by shouting “You aint allowed on here with that and usually they are accompanied by a dog of the lead or one that is on an extendable remote control one as I call them because some are hard to see when out five meters or so , I think it’s time the government and the powers that be did some educational adverts like the green cross code ones back in the day to highlight the legal side of of ebikes and promote more awareness of the laws also let joe public know that all ebikes are not illegal ? Sorry rant over. now breathe Totally agree especially drivers who do not now know the Highway Code regarding giving way to cyclists. That seems to be most of them in London. I am sick of drivers tailgating me , when any one can see once past they will only come to a halt a few yards ahead into traffic, then they hog and block the road so you can not keep moving. When with a bit of consideration there is enough room for a cyclist to keep moving. When this happens we just mount the pavements and continue at walk assist speed or if it’s a particularly dangerous road pavement is the safe way to go as long as you ride sensible taking care not to hit anyone . If my bell is not load enough my drill sergeant’s bark usually does the trick for ignorant selfish drivers usually in Chelsea Tractors with the latest in off road suspension who do not want to go over speed bumps and end up driving straight at you on the wrong side of the road !!! on the side streets because we try t to find safer routes to ride along to keep off the main roads. A lot of drivers as soon as they come up to cyclists tend to act the same as when they are behind a learner driver there whole focus switches to how to overtake like a red flag to a bull . In short a lot more needs to be done if we want to see more people getting out off cars , cycle space without stupid scheme’s that cause major congestion agrivate motorists and make cyclists have to share bus lanes most of the bus drivers need more training too .
July 30, 2025Jul 30 Crackers not good and drugs more than likely involved as them things ain’t cheap . In the intervening two years, I think they've sensibly graduated to petrol motorbikes - I was overtaken jogging by seven very loud ones in the same vicinity as that vid two days ago, weaving wild and very fast between fast travelling cars. Still leaves too many Surrons in my area. They really are all over the place. Arm police orifcers with rubber tipped javelins to knock the blighters off. Rubber tipped, to prevent making new highly unwelcome orifices. Edited July 30, 2025Jul 30 by guerney
