November 12, 201015 yr Ordered something on the web for £15.95 plus £2.50 from SJS Cycles. Didn't like it, sent it back yesterday, and this morning got a Paypal refund for £18.45, i.e. the cost of the item plus p&p. Amazing service. They are a bit dearer than some on the web, but with that sort of customer service, they'll be getting my business in future! Allen.

Maybe so, but I still say that SJS's response (i.e. INSTANT refund,), goes beyond their legal duties, and I doubt if the DSA says that retailers have to refund full postage and packing charges, either. November 15, 201015 yr I have had a few errors made when SJS sent me sets of spokes, but I have to say their repsonse and fixing errors were first class! Regards Jerry
November 15, 201015 yr I doubt if the DSA says that retailers have to refund full postage and packing charges, either. Actually the Distance Selling Act specifies that if the transaction is cancelled within that 7 days for any reason or no reason, the retailer is responsible for collectig the item and the would be customer has to be refunded all charges, carriage, packing etc. The packing the item was sent in doesn't even have to be retained. It is probably the most unbalanced legislation ever passed. .

November 15, 201015 yr Unbalanced in favour of the shopper - now there's a first. A I think the reason was to give the potential purchaser the same opportunity to see the goods before buying at no cost to themselves, exactly the same conditions as when going to a shop. That does present the online seller with big problems of course, and many try very hard to avoid all the provisions, bluffing customers. I doubt that parliament would have produced such an act in isolation, I suspect the past presence of lobby groups from the established retailers played a large part in ensuring that online sellers didn't have things all their own way. If so, it's bitten them now, since they've been forced to sell online as well so they've been hoisted by their own petar(d). .
