As there are four cells I guess the voltage cuts off at 5 volts and over voltage protection at 8.4 volts ish.

I don't think there is any form of battery management just over and under voltage protection, which I am grateful for.

The charger does the CC bit and then stops from what I can see, this gives about 80% charge but hopefully long life.

Are you sure the cells are not pre-welded, 2p 2s and the two wires must be 8.4 -5 volts as there are only two connections and the electricity needs to get to and from the other cells or there is no point having them.

Also my charger says 8.4 volts, (V max).

My batteries come in a lovely black nylon pack, I have yet to open and it is going to stay that way. Hopefully?

series gives you voltage and parallel gives you capacity a 4s pack like i have is 16.4v so if i wire another 4 in parallel will give me the same voltage but double the capacity.

fully charged the pack is 8.4v 2s but with the bms they use can get the cells out of wack over time as all it is sensing is 1 cell out of 4 so when charging only get that cell to 4.2vish the rest could be under or a bit over you just dont know.

that will be the driver to run this led.

11.6v 1050ma might turn up the currant a bit depends how hot it gets in that case.
parts wise its just under 25 quid - the batts.

YOU:

hi

im not very happy with this light as the stated light output says 3000lm, and light distance 200m.

its more like 300lm with 20m distance.

the 12v driver for the led is using the most power and barley nothing going to the led just over 2.4v.

the led in this is for a tiny flash light and there 3w 3.3-3.6v and there 99p on ebay.

so sorry , would you like me refund you GBP4 as a reparation?

YOU:

well the seller is sending out a new one as it is dead and even tried to put it back on the other way round and still nothing.

you can do this on a gas stove with a frying pan you just have to be careful temp wise.

here it is with it removed so you can see the size difference.

I think you blew it up with 12 volts.

With the next one start at 1.2 volts and go from there.

Really with LED's ignore voltage and use current to see what is going on and gradually build up.;)

100 mA good (0.1 amp) and you can increase this, 10 AMPS bad ( but this will only show for a very short time as it blows up).

So start low, do not expect very much and you will not be disappointed when you have to wait another season for a replacement.

i did start at 10v and 300ma and turns it up to 12v and still nothing so the led has a fault.

forward voltage is 11.6v and 1050ma for this led.

its not even trying to light up like when i blew that 20w led in the vid, done that on purpose tho lol.

bit of a pita as will takes weeks for another one to get posted out but what can you do.

i did screw up on the size tho as the fkn front cover wont go on with that inside it so will have to get a 16mm one:rolleyes:

and dont worry i will not give up ;)
