    E-bike Of The Year

Not sure I well placed to comment but that has never stoped me. I vote for the Cytronex. In my mind it is the clear winer of the comercial bikes. And I think this for ther reasons that some people have poo pooed it. It is suited to semi-fit cyclists that want some assitance and with the right...

    Built my bike at last

Hey, not done much as I have been over worked and had the flu. Anyways, got the stem moving again. Turned bike upside down, removed wheel, sprayed in lots of WD40, applied woodwork clamp around crown of forks, got wife to hold bars and pulled. As soon as I got it rotating it became lose and I...

    Built my bike at last

At long last I have finaly built my bike. Started last night and finished (well, sort of) today. The bile is a very old (about 18 years) dawes Horizon touring bike. I have not used it for about 13 years until I dug it out recently and started cycling to work. I have had to spend money on it...

    Battery Charging From a Car

I would have thought a 200w (continuous) inverter would handle most bike chargers. Unfortunately that will draw more than 16a at 12v which is more than a cigarette lighter socket can handle. At 45v that would give 4.4a so given some inefficiencies in the charger would be enough for most...

mods (e.g. drop bars) for more aero ride position?

Yeah, but that is one hell of a postage cost

    Throttle wire colour codes

I think theay are largely interchangable. The ones with a power meter will be either 36v or 24v. Most run on 5v I think. They normally put out between 1v and 4v on the signal wire. I am installing butterfly bars on my bike. Hope work permits me to build the bike this weekend :-) I got some...

    Throttle wire colour codes

OK, engaged brain instead. The answer is: Black = ground Red = VCC (+5v) White = signal Green = + 36v battery Brown = switch Yellow = switch My continuity tester was playing up. I worked it out in the end by taking it apart. Took all of 5 mins. Cheers, BM.

    Throttle wire colour codes

Hi, anybody know which colour wire does what on this throttle: ScooterParts Limited I thought the switch was a simple puch to make using 2 of the wires but apparently not:confused: There are 5 wires so I would expect pos, neg, signal (and no idea given my misconcpetion about the...

mods (e.g. drop bars) for more aero ride position?

Wish I had seen this thread before. I have recently bought some butterfly bars and will be fitting this weekend. Might be interested in those extension levers. Please PM me with a price if you have some spares you are willing to sell. Cheers, BM.

    Importing Ping batteries...

For what it is worth my Ping battery was delivered this morning without attracting any of Alistair Darling's attention. Took 10 days which given the time of year does not seem too bad. As luck would have it my wheel build was also completed today so I am good to go with my build :)

    TongXin (a.k.a. Nano) motor project

It is the same. I think the Brompton kit uses the 260rpm version. BM

How easy/hard is it to fix a Lithium Ion battery?

I looked about a fair bit on the forums before ordering a battery. Ping's seem to be reliable unless you go for the high power stuff like some in NA do. We are talking 72v 40a configs. People have reported BMS failures then. The Ping's have been about for a year and appear to be lasting well...

    Advice please...

Hi, From what you have said about your needs I think you have made a sound decision. The Wisper is a great bike and well supported. When you get your bike please take care in the cold weather. A number of people on the forum have been caught out by ice recently, me included. Cycling to work...

    Battery enclosure

I think my unnconsidered ordering of the battery in this config was a mistake. I think I will look at reconfiguring the cells. Should not be too hard as the cells are already seperated into 2 stacks just want to turn the stacks 90 degrees to each other. We will find out when it is delivered...

    Battery enclosure

Yeah, he has made a good enclosure. Looks like he vacuum formed it. I guess I could give this a go, the parts are cheap. I only have a standard size oven but should just about be able to make a box of the right size. I have not tried vacuum forming before..... wonder how hard it really is? BM

    Battery enclosure

Hi, So I ordered a battery from ping the other day, somewhat in haste and after far too much wine to be thinking straight. Should have planned it all out a bit better really. Anyways the battery is 280mm x 105mm * 85mm. The idea was that if I wanted to put it on top of the rack it would still...

    Cold

Yeah, I turned back as well, got to the first corner and the ice took over. SPLAT. Nothing hurt but my pride and as I live in the sticks there were no spectators. Annoyingly I have about 3 miles of ungritted country roads then 18 miles of ice free roads so not sure I want to use spiked tyres. BM

    TongXin (a.k.a. Nano) motor project

Frank, Yes that is reassuring. I suspect that it is just new and will sort itself out with some use. Also, on further investigation there appears to be an initial friction that reduces at higher RPMs. I guess just a feature of how the drive mechanism works. I am quite looking forward to...

    TongXin (a.k.a. Nano) motor project

Tiberius, Thanks for the kind offer. I have just ordered a battery from Ping so hopefully I will be in a position to wire it up myself soon. Cheers, BM.

    TongXin (a.k.a. Nano) motor project

Yeah, that sounds good advice. First I think I will get a battery before I get it into a rim so I can at least spin it up and see what happens. If that goes OK I will put it into rim and give it a proper test. I think the drive is engaged at the moment due to the resistance so hopefully it is...
