One more thing as well...... my thumb throttle is on the left and right next to it is the LED display unit. I only have to press the on/off button, or the 'switch' button, and the motor cuts. So this in effect is a kill switch.

With only a throttle and no pas, I don't feel I need brake cut out switches. I let go of the throttle to brake and obviously the motor is cut before I brake. I think the bike is safer this way and I like the simplicity of it, thus I have no intention of fitting the PAS.

I've only got into this ebiking malarkey a few weeks ago..... and I find 15mph fast enough on tracks, cycle paths and canal tow paths. Its on the road I want more speed, 15 mph really seems painfully slow sometimes. Even with my disability I can cycle unassisted faster than that for short...

I think its down to each individual to be responsible how and when they use the extra speed they make their ebike capable of. When you're passing people on a cycle path, even 15mph is too fast.

Yes, but I'm led to believe that having no pedal assist and just using a throttle is illegal for an ebike here in the uk. According to my sat nav my ebike is doing 16mph, with occasionally 17mph showing up. This is on the flat just using the throttle. I only have a throttle fitted, no pedel sensor, don't want one. Neither do I have brake cut outs...... illegal ??.... Who cares.... and if those god damn pen pushers...

So whats the view of these bottle batteries, which is what i have. Pretty safe ?...... or should i keep a fire extinguisher near it ? :D

I dont charge my battery in the shed, because my motorcycle lives in there...... i wouldn't want a possible fire hazard next to that. It could end up being a bigger explosion than the battery.

Pretty scary that..... must admit, I don't like charging any batteries unattended and charge my ebike battery in the hallway on an evening when i'm around. I wouldn't charge it when i'm out, or overnight when i'm asleep.

The gov probably understands them well enough..... they're just still working out how they can tax them. There's also probably some health & safety quango set up thinking up laws on compulsory helmets, hi viz and protective clothing.

I don't believe that vid is genuine footage of a bike theft in progress..... it looks totally set up to me. Most bike thieves can get through a cable lock quicker than that as well.

I can understand using the number 8 in text speak, like 'L8', which obviously means 'late'........ But I don't understand why anyone would put an 8 in place of the letter A for the name Dave. I don't get it.
