Halfords Carrera e-Bike now only £799.99

Paul You are correct the slower you go the less energy needed to overcome air resistance. And the flatter and smoother the way the better. Our general rule of 2-3 miles per Ah of battery is good for the majority who travel at 25 kph with some pedalling. There are a few who don't pedal and live...

    Oxygen S-Cross CB

All the motors are a nominal 250watts but most can easily cope with higher power for a time. And very few ever burn out. The manufacturers test to an old standard designed to stop people over rating the motors. I.e. selling a weedy one as a KW drive. It's not a test to identify an under rated...

How do the BBS converted bikes ride?.

I leave mine (BBS01)on max(3) I think that's about 10amps straight out of the box. With an 8 spd Alfine hub. It starts fine in 4th on the flat and then hits 15.8 mph easy in 5th . Their after its all me on my own. I change gear to keep the cadence right so 6 for 17-20. 7 for 19-23 and 8 th for...

    Does this look good?

It would give you a brand advantage. Look we have this first etc. Always good for the sales team to have a plus point over the competition.

    Two wheel drive electric bike

There is one minor issue. The two wheel drive is only for personal fun. The law excludes twin motors. And with legal limits a single motor is fine anyway. I also agree with the buy a fat bike anyway. Making your own wheel will be very difficult. To get a strong safe and light fast wheel isn't...

    Hello All!

From .gov We are aware of some electric cycles that have a switch offering a temporary increase in top speed that is often advertised as an "off road" facility. When the switch is pressed the vehicle can be propelled by the motor at a speed greater than 15.5 mph. Vehicles with this feature...

New member. Kalkhoff Pro Connect. Control switch problem.

The Panasonic drives are in my opinion the sweet spot. So reliable and energy efficient. The improved designs have slightly hire this and that but at a cost both £ and functionality. If I could ride a normal frame now I would still love the Panasonic, I just wish the new ones were as reliable.

    Hello All!

As I have said before it's a of road switch that's mentioned in the legislation. Not reprogramming. I stay dull and legal. I still hit 40 mph regularly but that's unassisted. You might use a dongle and ride an unlicensed motor vehicle please stop trying to insult me and others by calling us...

    Does this look good?

It was nice. It misses full details but the burnout video suggests throttle not torque control. But the Panasonic drive was reliable and good with torque control. So Chinese innovators worked on similar gear. The bifang 8fun kit is under £700 from some dealers. Basic control and it's being used...

BBSHD for Specialized crosstrail sport disc

I wouldn't buy a motor and then save up for the battery. Buy it all at once, save your money until you can afford the lot then flash the cash, you may even get a better deal for the full setup.

For the bigger guys...the Kudos Duke

Not my first choice but as value for money it's a whole new bike for the price of a kit. A best budget buy until they have gone methinks.

    Hello All!

I ride a comfortable recumbent, full suspension and a high ish riding position. Therefore 150 watts of effort gets me over 16 mph something I can do so I don't use electric power except for starting and hill climbing. Even then on some of my local roads I get up to 35+ mph on the down hill and...

    Hello All!

The bbs01 does fine. I avoid the steepest hills and get around 140 miles from a sixteen Ah battery. That's more than almost anyone else. But my bike is very energy efficent too. If your a real cyclist you don't need anymore than the BBs 01 it has a peak power of over 700watts. With legal...

    Hello All!

For any real cyclist, a torque system gives you the real feel. I used to say the settings were 20 years younger, 20 years old and liar. The Panasonic crank drive was great. I'm running a BBS01 kit now it's on/ off power delivery so not as nice to ride but cheaper and takes the sting out of...

Mid-Motor - highest assist level and no speed restriction - battery life

I don't know your kit but on the bbs the lower settings have a lower cut off speed as well as lower power. So it might be assist to 8 mph in tour and 15 in turbo only?
