    Rights of Way.

Alan, Come on now. Applying reason and signs to justify your reckless cycling. Claiming that just because the sign says it's a national Cyclepath.... Dear dear me... Were you cycling nationally ? I think she was a local lady and its local rules, for local people.

Help finding £25,000+ of stolen electric bikes

That's an offensive post to me. Laughing at someone who has just lost enough money to possibly bankrupt a small business. I'm sorry Martin some of us don't have to think to see what's wrong here.

    Battery help

The battery is the fuel tank for your bike. You can get cheaper lighter batteries but unless you know what you are doing. Bad things happen. Like burning your house down. Google lipo fires for that. I have a 16ah battery that cost about £120 but I need to watch it carefully or the wife will kill...

    New Gtech ebike

I can get 50 ish miles from a pair of 3ah batteries if I try. But my bike is efficent not me fit. But we are at the extreme of performance power wise I couldn't get over 26 miles from the same 200watt hour setup on a Salisbury as the bike was crap. ( my opinion of its performance in my hands)

    lightweight assistance and proportional power

Crank drives let you trade speed for torque. Dropping to first and turning the pedals gets you up steep hills that only the best hub drives can manage. Assuming you have bad days when you can't assist at all. Others know more about the hub motors than me. But there are two speed motors that have...

Is buying 500w ebike a good idea to commute through the city?

The point of the limit is its a legal bike. If you want to do 50 mph buy and licence a motorbike. I don't want a 17 year old doing 30 on the local footpath. If you can do 30 under your own steam on a pushbike you have worked for your legs and normaly leave it for the road as you don't want...

Which bike is right for me?

You are the weight I should be, damm you. The big bear is a beast for that but no complaints there if your struggling. There are other budget bikes it's getting competitive at the sub £1000 mark now. Some traders will come along suggest their bikes. Like the whispers etc.

Which bike is right for me?

How steep is the hills you have to do and what size are you? Big bear is good for hub drive and throttle helps. It's the basic Chinese import. Woosh who import are respected here for good service but no local dealers. The design and law is confusing but most legal 250 watt motors can do a lot...

    Newbie introducing myself

Better tires(fatter), suspension forks and seat post will help with that. You now have time to get used to electric bikes and test ride a few before moving on. I have full suspension and I find that rougher road slows me down but the ride is still comfortable.

    Newbie introducing myself

They are fairly much of a muchness on power. And if you do have a more powerful one you just hit 15 faster, or empty the battery very quickly. The assist is fairly similar. The frame, and cycle parts can make a difference though as did the torque sensor when it was only on crank drive.
