Just an update to say I returned the Dahon in the end. Its a nice bike but I couldn't face messing about with a rear wheel install. The seller is excellent. He has relisted it together with an update about the bike condition. Although brand new it will need a little setting up of the rear shock...

Me too I always end up modifying my bike handle bar set up, finding most to be too low and too far away. Its usually pretty easy to do though may require extending cables. Regards Jerry

Nice job Dave. Whilst perfectly safe for those who know how to handle these cells, I would still however issue a health warning that Lithium Polymer cells are not for the faint hearted. They should be treated with the greatest of respect re over charging/discharging and possible fire risks...

Yep as you say there are risks. As when I ordered my first Tongxins and ended up with ones with rollerbrake fittings. Despite numerous emails before ordering I still didn't get what I wanted. I was lucky as the thread went the whole way down the shaft and I was able to take the motor apart...

Agreed, I was just asking what setup he was using to confirm that. As you say his setup seems fine. I think he is using a higher RPM for the 26" wheel though. Does seem these broken ring failures are a bit of a lottery. Regards Jerry

Dave get out your shed/workshop and read my reply above lol Just spend all afternoon fettling in mine. Re-built a rear wheel and did some cleaning. Tomorrow will take the missus out to keep her sweet. Probably cycle into Cambridge, unassisted of course. It would be a bit bad if I took an ebike...

Ps I never realised the rear Cutes were so light 2.1kg ? which is the same as this motor so it won't really matter if I have to fit one in the rear forks instead. Would be interesting to see how different a rear motor rides. Regards Jerry
