    Free Batteries

Those cases must surely be useful to someone...assuming they can be opened up easily.. considered eBay or Freecycle?

stackable batteries for limitless journeys ?

I considered this bike last year when i was making a short list.. at the time it was heralded as a great idea, but as I recall the bike itself was not without some problems, the batteries would rattle and move about, not very secure.. also not very economical when you had to buy three or four...

making our bikes legal for France

Why not either remove the throttle if you're paranoid or just disconnect it for the trip. I doubt the police would do anything as long as you don't use it, even if it is connected.

    Kryptonite-Series-2-D-Bike with 4 ft cable

Hi Donna, I have one of these myself (haven't used it yet) these locks are considered strong locks but are actually easily broken by thieves using bolt croppers..there was a video posted a few days ago showing just how easy they are to cut off. Still better than a cheap lock and will deter the...

    When, Where, Why, What

Would just like to add...if I hadn't of found this forum I would of been completely lost and wouldn't of had a clue about self-building or indeed what bike to buy..I probably would of ended up with a moped style bike.

Second long trip on self-build bike

Aha! Interesting. I did have a technical drawing of the motor from my supplier which might of had some info on it relevant, but I seem to have misplaced it I will have a proper look for it.

Public charging points for electric bikes?

Yep I totally agree. If the industry continues to grow there's going to be tremendous opportunities for new and existing businesses in many areas to service the special needs of ebike users. The ideal situation as you suggest would be secure storage and charging combined.. and also convenient...

    Ecobrand Harrier

Everything that was bad about early electric bikes seems to be incorporated on this bike... unattractive excessively bulky heavy frame, massive 13kg lead acid battery, total weight 42kg..phew..it's a push bike trying to be a moped. I wouldn't touch it personally as it has too many draw backs as...

Public charging points for electric bikes?

Perhaps we could organise one ourselves? ;-)

Public charging points for electric bikes?

Sounds like a great idea... The government needs to get organised on this and launch some scheme where they subsidise the cost and make a national scheme any businesses can join..common sticker in the window type of thing.. that would be great if we started seeing outlets like that popping up...

Why do you take the proverbial.......

Agreed. One of the great things about this site I've noticed as one of the later arrivals is that despite so many clearly highly intelligent people contributing and debating things, it's very rare to see ego trips or personal squabbling among members, unlike many other forums. Obviously there...

    1000W 48V Hub Conversion Kit

Wow incredible and reassuring to read this. And here was me worried about a little scratch on mine the other week ;-) It seems they can take a fair bit of rough handling then.

    1000W 48V Hub Conversion Kit

Nice write up with pics and stats too! Good to see an eBay kit reviewed... I've seen that seller offering those 1000w kits for a long time. I bet that is fun to ride at those speeds too! That's approaching moped speeds. I can only get those speeds downhill, pedalling like crazy with a strong...

    Identifying commercial posters

Great minds think alike ;-) The register could serve as a directory too, which might help the businesses as people could search there by location, or for specific products.. it might even attract more businesses and suppliers of stuff, like electronics etc.. but not sure how members would feel...

    Identifying commercial posters

I do think we need a distinction between an ordinary member and a business member. And "business member" should include anyone with commercial interests in a specific brand or company, but who may not be trading themselves. I think a simple, immediate indicator for business member posts, would...

    Marathon Plus puncture

Advice for anyone changing rear tyre... I forgot to mention earlier...if any first timers have to change a rear tyre and are unsure how to do it, this video guide I found earlier is quite useful... How To Remove and Install Your Wheels - Bicycle Tutor The video assumes you have a quick...

Why does nobody sell branded bikes with electric kits ready installed?

Good approach John and I'm sure many will appreciate your straightforward honesty.. good luck with your business btw. I think business people can contribute a lot to the forum just as end users, especially on the technical side and sourcing parts etc, but I agree with Indalo that it would be...

Public charging points for electric bikes?

Perhaps someone will come up with an adaptor which can convert the output for different bikes... could be a new market there for someone.

    Puncture proof tyres?

They look over priced at £30 each? Why not buy one of the established brands like Continental or Schwalbe?
