non sensical uk e bike law

The whole idea of pedelec is allow them to use bicycle facilities and be treated as bike. 250w is more than enough to do this. If you want to climb at 15mph+ get motorbike.

orbea shimano steps 6010 specs/info please

3800km on my Steps, it is nice drive and more than enough for relax cruising and sweat free climbing. High mode is little bit lumpy compared to bosch, eco and normal are excellent. Controls and display a superior to Bosch. Three power modes are all you need, I never use Bosch Sport level.

New mid motor with integrated NuVinci gear system

Being able to use a strong long lasting single speed chain on a FS eMTB would be big plus. Lower efficiency of Nuvinci doesn't matter with 250w on tap.

New member advice on new ebike please

Kalkhoff make excellents bikes, the ones with Bosch motor should be fine. It is impulse motor you want to avoid. If you have had test ride and like impulse drive system then the other drive systems to consider are Bosch, Shimano Steps, Brose and Yamaha. Bosch and Shimano dominate city ebike class.

Rides illegal machine - kills pedestrian & blames her........

Unfortunately smartphones have dumbed down the average pedestrian. As cyclist or driver you just have to account for it. Right or wrong you still face court trial, easier to slow down and give them hearful as you pass. Plus of ebike slowing down and get back up to speed is easy.

    2017 KTM Fogo 271

Interest to see how many miles you get out of EX1 chain. 16T chainring seems bit large for bike with 15mph cutoff, thought 15t would be better match. Lower Unsprung weight of inverted forks should give better performance but more vunerable to dirt and damage.

Chain 10 gear shiano for KTM Lycon

Make sure clutch is on if SLX or XT. Level on derailleur which keeps chain tension. I left it off a couple times after working on bike and had chain suck in wet and mud. The only way to clear on Cube is step on chain.

Good rain coat, leggings and overshoes if riding in rain. Overshoes also help keep feet warm on cold mornings. If need extra lights, 300 lumens or greater ideally USB rechargeable.

Was considering a Halfords bike and suddenly now looking at a Scott Ebike for the wife!

Check you setup, seat might be a bit high and you are over extending.

Was considering a Halfords bike and suddenly now looking at a Scott Ebike for the wife!

Frame battery is great plus, the rack ones do effect low speed handling especially with loaded panniers. Only negative with this bike no lights. Factory lights that run off bike battery are a huge plus especially if commuting, worth paying a bit more to get some fitted. They will always be there...

Spin or use higher power setting

Based on some rough tests on my hilly commute, using lower gear and climbing in eco will half power used compared to turbo.

    Wisper eMTB sneak preview

"There is nothing wrong with Bosch it's a good system, we are considering using the new Active system for our City and Trekking models, it's currently between Bosch and the new Shimano E6100 which we are yet to try." I'd go with quieter one. For urban riding Bosch controls and display are fine...

    Wisper eMTB sneak preview

I've a Shimano E6000 and it has proven reliable but it is urban bike. The batteries are another story, two 400whr batteries both losing significant capacity over few months. When good go from 15-8% in a second, after a year 2500km goes from 25%-8%. No issues with Bosch 500WH battery which...

Brightest light for not silly money

What is handlebar mount like?. Will it handle serious MTBing without moving. I've found screw tightened mounts good off road.
