pedelecmonitor - mileage and repairs statistics

Shop replaced my 6month 1900km CX, said it was noiser than expected and hard to turn by hand. Sounds like bearing or gearbox issue. The issue may have been there from day one as new dive does seem quieter.

    Looking to buy an ebike!

Excellent price for Bosch CX bike, components are OK, 9spd deore is good derailleur with plus of chains and cassettees being cheap compared to 10-11spds.

One that rides well without assist..

For middrives look at Shimano Steps or Bosch. Hub gears have longer lasting chains and allow gear changes when stationary. My STEPs with 9spd deore derailleur gives about 1500miles per chain.

    A bike for my wife.

20-25kg is about lite they get for step through with lights rack and mudgaurds. Those extras do make bike easier to live with.

    A bike for my wife.

Not sure if it supports auto shift, should do as is only a SW upgrade. http://www.hargrovescycles.co.uk/bikes/electric-bikes/ridgeback-electron-di2-2017-electric-bike.html

Is this crazy?! High mile Bosch motor

Don't think 2yr factory warranty is transferrable. If bearings do need servicing motor can be sent away to bosch service center. There are websites selling new motors for about £1000.

    A bike for my wife.

You can fit Di2 shifting to a manual nexus or alfine hub. Would need shop to do it as they will need to link Di2 to STEPs controller. So you are not limited to Di2 models only. No weight on Electron but typically around 20kg mark.

    Another newbie needs advice!!!

It doesn't sound like you are fond of bike. A conversion will make it go faster but will not make it a better fit for you.

    Fuzua Evation drive system

Hope they do a FS eMTB with this drive. Would be nice on occasions to convert to muggles bike. My budget doesn't stretch to bikes so having 2 in one is great option.

    Wisper eMTB sneak preview

Thank for reply. Shimano was my first choice but the deal on Cube CX was to good to refuse. Would also have had to wait another 6-12month for right Shimano bike and budget. User interface was one of appeals of Shimano. Very happy with CX performance, small chainring and user interface leave some...

    Wisper eMTB sneak preview

Is much difference in price between Bosch CX and Shimano E8000. This is price you buy drives from manufacturers. Don't expect $amount more percentage. Also did you consider Yamaha PWX or Brose.

Would I be dumb to buy an leccy bike?

Specialized and Haibike are definitely overpriced. As example £4000 for FS eMTB and no dropper seat post. Merida tend to be good value for money, not sure of UK presence. UK ebike company Whisper are about to release a range of Shimano powered eMTBs. Does pay to buy from local shop for after...

Would I be dumb to buy an leccy bike?

Don't limit yourself to just Haibike for eMTB, there are Cube, Scott, KTM, Trek, Specialized, Bull to name a few. For middrives it is Bosch, Brose, Shimano or Yamaha. All will flatten hills but power delivery, noise and controls vary slightly between them.

eMTB owners photo and ride thread.

The Bosch with Intuvia display is easy to activate quickly but not easy to keep button pressed for any length of time. Like Eddie said it needs to be in high gear which take time change into then back down when needing to ride. For MTB it is just simpler to carry bike in lot of situations. The...

    Strictly Motors

My CX drive FS MTB with aggressive MTB tires is surprisely easy to pedal at 27-30km/hr unassisted. On flat no wind. While Brose might be slightly less resistance, it still an eMTB you are not likely ride it without assistance. Come first hill unassisted it will still be overweight to high...

looking for a rohloff, belt drive, pedelec

Bosch have just announce new Active drives which are quieter and normal size chainring. I'm guessing Performance drives will get same treatment next year. Probably 18month wait.
