    How effective are electric bikes?

Knee problems really are a curse. You either stress them with painfull exercise (especially walking on hard surfaces) or put on loads of weight and make things even worse. I'm sure I've read somewhere that long term rest (rather than exercise) is the most effective therapy but fat chance of that...

    New X bike

Yes I agree. The X6 is a good bike and that range isn't a deal breaker for those in the right circumstances. It's a fact that many commuters only live 3 to 4 miles from work but that journey, once the schools traffic starts flowing again, can take over an hour and be very stressfull and...

    A2B Lovefest

Just out of interest what was the other bike that looked nice? Was it a Cytronex Synapse or the E-Motion or something else?

My wife lost her glasses 12 months ago. They were very expensive designer glasses and have since been replaced. She was sure they'd been nicked. They turned up today in her glove compartment:eek: I hope yours turn up :)

    Switzerland and Italy Motorhome Trip

Yes I agree. That really does look like a great holiday. The Wispers look ideal for that trip. You know I'm quite envious.

Yes, you're right. I'd forgotten how many miles you do on those Wispers. You must be doing more than 7,500 miles pa. Punishing stuff for any bike. That's at least 5 times more than me!

Sorry chaps I was referring to the brake pads needing replacement every couple of months. Maybe I'm just light on the brakes!

    cyclist struck by lightning

Rubber is not an insulator at the high voltages involved with a lightning strike but becomes a conductor. Tyres provide no protection from lightning strikes. Consequently Cyclists are as vulnerable as any pedestrian except we can get home quicker. :) This story would appear to contradict that...

    Steel or alloy/alluminium forks?

Pinging them with finger nail works too. A nice ringing tone is steel. The higher the better (more expensive) the quality of steel is.

    Steel or alloy/alluminium forks?

I checked the bike out on ebay. It does have rigid steel forks. Looks good to me. The steel forks and the curve will make them much better at damping road vibration than aluminium forks which are much less flexible. PS. When I say looks good I'm referring to the forks and not the ebay item as...

    Steel or alloy/alluminium forks?

Yes those are steel. You can tell by the rake of the forks. See below from Evans Cycles website for 2007 model - Raleigh Pioneer Metro LX 2007 Hybrid Bike Frame: AIRLite aluminium gents city frame - Forks: Steel unicrown trekking fork - Gears: 21 Speed Shimano - Shifters: EZ Fire trigger...

    Predictability

It's one of those programs I like to record. I can get get through a good episode in 15 minutes with fast forward at 32 frames per second. No adverts and no boring bits -thus the 15 minutes (at most:D ) then straight back on the internet. Beats the misery of East Enders :( Correction: I think...

    Interesting article

I like your style except the cat. I'm allergic. Smart cars are excellent - I've had mine 8 years. I nearly bought a Wisper myself but didn't.

Mail on Sunday Live Magazine electric bike article

Very, very nice photos of the bikes. Male models aren't really my thing. Can't help noticing they're not sporting helmets or high-vis cardies. I'd sweat like a hog in that kit:D

£250 Workplace Parking Space Tax coming?

Flecc: I really like that idea because it addresses so many of the real issues and is so much fairer. Perhaps we could have some sort of mileage allowance to help people who lived in areas where services are far apart and public transport is a joke. Gradual increases to enable public...
