    Attitudes to ebikes.

I have not had any bad experiences from Lycras (They all totally ignore me) Other people are fascinated, some ask for a ride. During the very early days of CB radio, I felt like a prat talking into a black box hand held set. Soon went. Then came mobile phones, again an odd feeling using them in...

    Saddle Choice for Prostate Problems

I had a huge hydrocele (Google it!) Think Grapefruit. I had the operation 5 years ago and all is well since. My Urologist discounted bike saddles, but much reading since has convinced me for the need to totally relieve pressure from the 'centre' which carries all the vital tubes etc. Frankly...

Butting in, where is the shunt in that? Is it the piece of wire on the back, top right hand corner?

Anybody know what it is? It compares itself to WD40 which is mainly light oil and parafin

    Battery Waterproofing

I use Evostick on all places where cables go into things, even the brake levers. The display panel on my Woosh is a problem, I sealed around it with clear silicone, not a neat job. if you do not fully tighten the display panel, you can rotate it to vertical in rain. Only wish manufacturers paid...

    Emu Electric Bikes

Well, according to their blurb, it has taken them 5 years to design what appears to be little different to Chinese designs. They came up with an integrated battery, rim brakes and rigid forks. Oh dear.

    european imports

After 4 faultless years, my Tonaro suddenly packed up. It was a relief to be able to take it back to Phil at Powerpedals for repairs. I would not have been able to repair it myself. Best to buy locally.

    Let's keep the throttle!

That is possibly the answer! Underpedalling. You have a normal throttle that only works as long as the pedals are turned, no matter how slowly. Stop pedalling and assistance stops, Get really knackered and turn the pedals slowly and run on throttle. Members like Old Tom who do not consider this...

    Let's keep the throttle!

Can someone who is better at the law than me clarify, 1 Bike sellers will not be able to sell bikes with throttles unless type approved. 2 Riders on the other hand will be able to ride newly manufactured bikes that they have fitted throttles to. Is this the case?

    Let's keep the throttle!

I really do not see what all the fuss is about. The Chinese will still make throttles, also controllers with a port for a throttle. UK vendors will simply sell Chinese bikes without throttles, then Ebay to the rescue.

Looking for a really comfortable saddle

One tip that I heard was to sit on something hard like a stone wall for about 5 minutes. You will then be acutely aware where the horns of your pelvis are (Two painful spots on the bum) Use a tape measure to find out how far apart they are and that tells you the minimum width of a suitable...

Will the end of full speed throttles in January 2016 cause a rush to buy.

Apparently, you can only 'underpedal' on Chinese bikes with a magnet ring sensor. European bikes are far to posh for such a thing and measure the amount of force you put into pedalling before doling out a bit of power

Will the end of full speed throttles in January 2016 cause a rush to buy.

Both my pedelecs have throttles and I just do not recognise the allegation that they are mopeds. Compared to mopeds they are feeble beyond belief. I need the throttle because of my arthritis. I have no interest in buying a European bike anyway, the Chinese ones are far better value for money...

    KTM/ Panasonic Battery recall !

I know that "Lithium Battery, Fire Risk" pulls all the levers for journalists and other professional panickers, But is this really any more alarming than other recalls for cars , motor bikes etc.?

    E-Ram

Having read about cycloidal drive on Wiki, two questions arise. 1 Wear, it's OK for car seats but will it wear out quickly if used continuously? 2 It cannot be driven backwards, not very handy on a bike.

    Changing my pedals

I have only had this happen once, on a Vauxhall car which had a steel drain plug in an alloy part of the cooling system. I had to drill it out in the end. Apparently, it is electrolytic degradation (that white powder you sometimes find) The powder builds up an enormous pressure to lock the two...

    Changing my pedals

I don't know the pedal and crank, but if you have a steel thread in alloy, the alloy can spall (i.e. swell) and it is nearly impossible to separate them. The only hope is a blow lamp and lots of heat.

    Stop hating ebikes

I am beginning to notice more ebikes in Swansea, but all are ridden by the over 50s if not 60s. Some ask me about mine and wince when I tell them the price. Strangely, the other day I was stopped by of all things, a 'Stop me and Buy One' ice cream van. He wanted to know all about it, but he was...
