    Swollen battery

Just checking if I was safe. If its been swollen for while then yes, its unlikley to burst into flames now. Its unlikly that most people would win the lottery, yet a lot of people do play.

    Swollen battery

Dont leave the battery near to or on anything flamable, like wooden decking, or a house. You dont live anywhere near Wales do you ?

Charging a battery on the bike and on a vehicle - 12V charger?

The lower the voltage (used for the extension cable) the greater the transmission losses .....

    de-restricting my e-bike controler

Not forgetting that you can loose your driving license too. And having to own up to Car insurance companies in the future that you may have been done for driving a vehicle without insurance, is unlikley to reduce your premiums.

    Folder recommendations

I rarely touch the brakes on my Bromptons. Thinking back the last time I touched the brakes on the electric one was this time last year.

No, 6 speed manual, standard alloy rims. But only 9 years !!! clearly rim wear is a serious issue.

Same with the brakes on my Bromptons, they work just fine, not much maintenance really. The rim wear is a pain though, I have never needed to replace one, but the front wheel rim on my sons Brompton failed after only 9 years of regular use.

    Cycle lane signs

I live not far from the major A&E hospital in my area. One day I saw a guy cycling down the road towards A&E, and he would have been there in less than two minutes, in one hand he was holding and drikning a can of cider, whilst with the other hand he was holding a mobile phone next to his ear...

    Traffic noise while riding.

Really ????? However if you insist, maybe listen to the 'Funeral March' on repeat.

    Cycle lane signs

You get that too ? Would not be so bad but not only do the pedestrians round here walk on the cycle path, they have funny white things in their ears and look intently at another rectangular thing they hold in their hand. So they dont hear or see the cyclists coming.

    Cycle lane signs

That sign is reminding the pedestrians to stay off the cycle path.

    Fitting A Tracking Device

One guy, who I have met several times, runs Lacuna Space. https://lacuna.space/ They have satellites in orbit collecting data from LoRa sensors in remote locations and relaying it back down to Earth.

    Fitting A Tracking Device

I have kept an eye on the WSPR stuff, although tecnically not legal for UK Amateurs. I was in circa 2012+ following what was happening with the UKHAS (UK High Altitude Society), they were using low tech comms for long distance tracking, which interested me. The UKHAS guys invited me up to...

    Fitting A Tracking Device

Pretty close to that. Way back in time, early 2015, I launched one of those low cost 36" foil party balloons filled with helium. It had a LoRa GPS tracker on it. If you fill the foil party balloons just right they will rise to circa 10km altitude and then float along at that altitude. Mine...

    Fitting A Tracking Device

Thats not too far from a practical test I carried out way back in 2016. https://stuartsprojects.github.io/2016/08/15/how-to-search-500-square-kilometres-in-10-minutes.html Height is king for most UHF comms, you can increase the detection range of a tracker by maybe 100 times or more, if you...

    Fitting A Tracking Device

LoRa is very very good for some applications. Tracking high altitude balloons or low cost satellite communications, low data rate sensor or mesh applications are others. Its also extremly good at searching for stuff that you have lost, a balloon that has landed or pet thats gone wandering...

Swytch Pro/Max yellow battery connector secrets revealed?

OK, sounds like you found a way of 'forcing' an external charge ? Whilst that might work, what are the exact implications ? Given the issues there can be with charging eBike batteries, if you have a setup that does not behave in an expected manner with regaurds to charging, you would want to...

EZ Rider Kit - popped one open to see what's inside (Brompton conversion)

Maybe. I have a DIY eBompton conversion using a KT controller. Its a pleasure to ride. Its got 3 speed rear gear, not sturmey archer, but the controller copes so well that its rare that I use the gears at all.
