    New helmet required

As others have Said, try before you buy. two same sized helmets from different manufacturers can feel totally completely different when wearing them. I’ve only owned 3 shop brought lids myself. I did once buy one online But it went back the same day because it was so uncomfortable. Finding out...

    Suspension seat post advice please

unfortunately all the suspension posts I know of add several inches in height to your seating position. if you’re seatpost is already as low as it can go, no suspension post will work. your next best option would be a sprung seat, I have one of these on one of my bikes. (I’m 93kg and it’s...

    Cube Acid 400 chainring upgrade

before looking for updates I strongly recommend physically looking at what you have at the moment to minimise the chance of buying the wrong thing. https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/forking-bad-luck.33076/

    Puncture repair kits

I carry glueless skab type patches, OK while inflated and the tube rubber is expanded but don’t do so well left on a deflated tube, as the tube shrinks back to its original size the patch outer is rigid and doesn’t shrink, it just creases instead. I’ve never had a problem with scabs while in...

    Rent an E-Bike for £40 a month

There’s a only remote chance that a rider gets stopped by the police riding these illegal machines and is even less likely that the bike is confiscated. should this happen and a rented bike is taken by the police, will the rental company accept the loss or will they come after the renter for the...

A quick look at there FAQ’S Q/ Are Hurrecane bikes road legal and do I need a license to ride one? They list the legal requirement, including A/ The motor shouldn’t have a maximum power output of more than 250 watts. as all of there bikes are over 250 watts, none are legal but they have...

    Cube Acid 400 chainring upgrade

I have a 2018 Acid one and the chainring is mounted on a carrier. Earlier this year I found an unused 42 tooth chainring in the back of the shed and it just happened to be 104 bcd  As the bike had done over 1000 miles I thought I’d fit a new chain set. I already had a 9spd 11-42 cassette...

    Sun burn

I wear a du rag /bandana under my lid, it soaks the sweat and keeps the bugs from crawling in my hair. When I brought mine they were 5 for a fiver so I have a freshly washed one on each ride. like these...

Country footpaths and why not to ride

As a cyclist I can’t complain about the type of gate on a footpath, although riding on a footpath without the landowners consent is not a criminal offence it still constitutes trespass and is a civil matter, I shouldn't have been there in the first place. there’s plenty more things on official...

Country footpaths and why not to ride

I've never been an advocate of riding country footpath, not for any legal reasons but more because they throw up unexpected obstacles  Yesterday I was aimlessly riding and came across a section of byway I hadn’t ridden for at least 20 years, I remembered they had built a bypass around...

    Replace suspension forks with rigid

I’ve never had a problem with lockouts not working so can’t advise from personal experience. I did however do a quick Google (rockshox fork lockout not working) and as I understand it, the lockout works by reducing/ stopping the flow of oil in the rebound damper, that’s problem you don’t...

    Replace suspension forks with rigid

The 27.5” tapered forks in your link should work well as they are 465mm just a little taller than your Current ride height. if you’re forks have a lockout you could lock them at 465mm and go for a ride, then you’ll know what to expect from the carbon forks.

    Replace suspension forks with rigid

Is that with you sat on the bike ? If it is then the 29ers could work as they are 495mm and 10mm will hardly be noticed (20mm shorter not so good) from fully extended to me sitting on the bike, my forks sag by about 25mm and occasionally on a long ride If I fancy a change of pace, I’ll stop...

I agree with laser man (and thats not because I’m the go to laser welder at work:p) In your picture It looks like, With a disc Fitted It could even rub against the fork leg

    Replace suspension forks with rigid

Just had a another look at the forks in your link and I don’t think they are suspension corrected. The 29er version may suit your bike @ 475mm axle to crown ;)

    Replace suspension forks with rigid

They look ok but cheek your axle to crown height (Best measured taking into account 20/25% sag to get the correct ride height). although it says it’s for 27.5” wheels, if they are not suspension corrected you’ll have a lower front end and very twitchy steering.

    Replace suspension forks with rigid

Just remembered one of my old posts “not a problem I can't overcome but what a day ! Earlier this week I'd decided to upgrade the forks on my cube acid one, i thought I'd gone about it the right way by checking the manufacturers spec. OEM headset = FSA Orbit 1.5B ZS-R, Top Zero-Stack 1 1/8"...

    Replace suspension forks with rigid

Hi, I wouldn't bother servicing your stock forks especially if they are Working as they should. Being heavy low end coil sprung forks a like for like replacement could be brought for £100 to £150 and with a little shopping around under well under £100. There’s a few things to consider when...
