    Interesting Offer

I agree. You can easily wind up spending that on tools alone if you don't have a kitted out workshop to start with. Or the cost of asking your accountant the answer to the question :p

    Flykly smart wheel on kickstarter

The Bike+ system has battery integrated into hub motor too ... but is likely more realistic in terms of Wh. What I don't buy for a minute is the notion that you'll get enough regen to give meaningful assist on a continuous basis. Bike+ light hybrid system unplugs the e-bike for a Prius-like ride

BH Emotion Demo Bike Sale up to 30% off!

So, in effect, these are effectively regular second hand bikes about 2 years old. Interesting pricing - on a recent thread we came up with similar 2nd hand bike values for a one year old premium bike. For a 2-year old premium bike with pretty much no warranty I'd expect about a 45-50% discount...

    Kudos Eiger with NuVinci Hub

Really frustrating to have to de-bug a new bike to that extent and sod's law it happens when you buy from a dealer who is not nearby. One of the aspects which is so wrong about things like this happening in 1st year of owning an expensive new bike is if it has to go off the road to sort a...

    Brightest possible front light

I'm working on it but at the moment, no it's all Chinese to me .... mainly I think because I can't understand why the pack is wired up like it is to begin with :). 1) The PCB is confusing me because it's a 'black hole' at the moment 2) Don't understand why the strips bridging the cells of...

    Brightest possible front light

Thanks ... I might go for it, basically as a building block (baby step !) towards starting to understand LiPos (maybe ...). Got a feeling this parallel / string thing will only start to make sense once I work on something. But I do need to track down an affordable balance charger that'll deal...

    Brightest possible front light

So with that balance extension charger lead, how does it wire in to the battery circuit on the 4-way pack ? At the moment, both charging and power draw go via the single 22AWG wire that has the 'magicshine' connector on the end which is in turn soldered onto the P+ / P- contacts on the battery...

Problem with switch on Kalkoff ProConnect in rain?

Take off the battery, dry out the pins thoroughly with a hairdryer, test again and if all is fine use some contralube on the pins to help protect connectivity in adverse conditions.

    Overshoes.

These are probably a close match to what you described - they are a sensible length to ensure water doesn't run down into the top of them if trousers ride up during cycling. Good quality and pretty lightweight too. They are open at the base though (like almost all cycling overshoes). I bought a...

    easyJet

Quite a few airlines nowadays have dimension restrictions on oversize luggage items they will permit to be shipped as accompanied baggage. If you exceed the relevant criteria the box must go as cargo unaccompanied. Looking at the size of box my Agattu came in for example, which I still have...

    Brightest possible front light

It's a front bike light though ... and needing a £30 charger to get a bit more run time out of a £9 battery pack is one of those things which just doesn't make much sense. May as well accept the 'out of balance', buy 2 battery packs and carry a spare along in your rack bag. On Sale! 8.4V...

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

 ... once again proving that component quality matters on eBikes just as much as it does on regular bicycles. So often the electric assist system seems to be used to negate the need for the rest of a premium eBike to be as good as a premium regular bike, but time & time again ...

    Combined electric wheel

Works out an expensive kit and you end up with a singlespeed bike. That's going to make it a niche market ... as obtrusive as a Magicpie and battery in wheel sounds like a recipe for dead ducks. Might work in Manhattan tho' ... for a few days in any event. Novelty toy at best but the cellphone...

    Testing/Fixing Cree T6 battery packs

Gave it a go inserting the 2 duff cells into the 2-channel 4.2V charger but the contact strips made contact with the charger terminals and blew the charger. Think I may just ditch this pack and replace it ... getting at the cells and reinstating is not straightforward. Had a think about...

    Testing/Fixing Cree T6 battery packs

I can squeeze 2 cells at a time into the charger. Should it be the pair which are each reading the low voltage when measured individually with probes on the cell contacts behind the contact strips ? (get confused by the parallel thing !) ... but of course I can't help the charger making...
