Ebike to keep up with fast group

If it has to be ready made and German, then your only realistic option anywhere near your budget is a Bosch bike from a German brand. But you will have to dongle it. This Cube has the pokiest Bosch motor, mudguards, and the bigger 500wh battery. With a dongle, you will have a fighting chance...

Sorry folks - another newbie looking for some guidance !

Most breaching of D locks is done by levering from inside the D. When you deploy it, try to make sure the D is well filled by the bike and anchor point.

    Newbie with £1000

The Groove is a nicer bike than the woosh bikes, but it's dearer so should be. You say you want 'a lower battery', but the Groove battery is perched on a rear carrier, so couldn't be higher unless it was on stilts. http://www.50cycles.com/electric-bikes/activity-e-bikes/groove.html

New 2016 Schwalbe Marathon Plus MTB looks good

A lot of the Wearside end of the C2C has been asphalted. Great, much easier riding. But the asphalt means the glass fragments sit on top of the surface, whereas on the previous mix of dirt, gravel and cinders, they could sink in out of the way. The other thing to bear in mind at this time of...

New 2016 Schwalbe Marathon Plus MTB looks good

My experience with Bike Discount is the same as Eddie's - the goods turn up when they say or a day or two earlier. I always have my orders sent to my local bike shop, very handy because it saves me being in to receive them. The path you speak of runs under Wearmouth Bridge. That stretch has...

New 2016 Schwalbe Marathon Plus MTB looks good

Bike Discount in the Fatherland has them. I've bought several tyres from Bike Discount recently, all in stock if they say so and as described. http://www.bike-discount.de/en/buy/schwalbe-marathon-plus-mtb-26x2.10-clincher-reflex-489028/wg_id-240

Bike up for replacement. Any recommendations

Just to be clear you say your commute is '26 miles daily' which I take to mean 13 miles each way. That would be about an hour on the bike each way. which is plenty but still doable on an ebike. Particularly if it's on relatively flat, open roads on which you can bowl along without...

Bike up for replacement. Any recommendations

As you say, the battery will be all but flattened each day which will tend to wear it out faster. A Juicy Sport with a 12ah battery is on budget and would give a useful bit of headroom for the commute, as well as not thrashing the battery to the same extent.

Bike up for replacement. Any recommendations

It should do, you weigh next to nothing and as you've observed your area is known to be among the flattest in the country. Presumably you are already pedelec ebiking, so will have some bike fitness and be used to putting in some effort.

Bike up for replacement. Any recommendations

You live near The Electric Transport Shop branch in York. Well-established retailer, so you can be reasonably sure you will be properly looked after. A lot of their bikes are over budget, but I rate the Ebco hub drive bikes, and they have an Urban Commuter for £999. I tried one of their...

Sorry folks - another newbie looking for some guidance !

Comes up as 'sold out' on the urban.ebikes site. I think, a bit like 50 Cycles for Kalkhoff, urban.ebikes is the only UK dealer for QWIC. Way over the OP's budget anyway. http://urbanebikes.com/collections/ebikes?page=2

Any info on the B'Twin BeBike 900

Fairly standard Chinese step through. Decathlon bikes have a good name, but don't expect the shop to be ebike experts. You would get more grunt and a bigger battery with a woosh Big Bear. A bit less coin for a similar quality bike, although you don't get hub gears...

Best bike for super tall guy

Don't get too hung up on wheel sizes - it's the frame size that makes the fit. There are three points of contact on a bicycle - saddle, pedals, and handlebars. The wheel size is irrelevant to the length between these contact points. To illustrate the point, a Brompton folding bike has 16"...

    Kalkhoff vs KTM

I would happily ride a KTM or a Kalkhoff - both good quality bicycles. But when it comes to an ebike, KTM is a clear winner because of persistent doubts over the Kalkhoff's motor. The Bosch system looks more reliable to me It is fitted to many, many, bikes so the few reported problems are a...

Anyone got a Raleigh Motus ?

You are probably aware the capacitor in the rear light is there so you still show a rear light when you stop for a short time at traffic lights and junctions. In that respect, it's a good feature. The Busch and Muller rear light on my Rose has a tiny switch which enables it to be switched off...

    NuVinci

There are two types of NuVinci gear change, both are stepless but one is automatic and one is not. Both do the job, but the manual one requires a firm twist on the twist shift. As a general point, I found the NuVinci sucked power. A Bosch bike with a NuVinci I tried felt very stodgy compared...

    variable regenerative braking

That's odd, I would have sworn I played with some form of regen on the test ride. Or perhaps I'm thinking of the brief go I had on a KTM/Panasonic like Eddie's.
