    Does bicycle weight really matter?

Certainly a lot of coin for what it is. It does have a torque sensor bottom bracket - can you replicate that with a hub kit? James likes the bike, well he would say that, but it might have something to do with his base being in the flatlands - shops in London, Suffolk and the East Midlands. I...

    Does bicycle weight really matter?

Interesting input from a trade member. The thread is about bike weight, the Coboc must be one of the lightest ebikes, and I doubt many of us had heard of it. As regards James trying to sell a few, what do you expect him to do? Try to sell a woosh or a Kudos? I've never understood why some...

    Does bicycle weight really matter?

Good to see Coboc trying something a bit different, and good to see a UK dealer putting his money where his mouth is by stocking a few. Most ebikes are 20kg+, so I can imagine the Coboc would ride significantly better. Single speed puts me off. Ten or so gears is plenty, and I would buy an...

    Yamaha Lapierres

Presumably the washers were bonded to enable them to be filed to the correct depth in situ. The washers are now sandwiched between the frame and motor, so won't be going anywhere - assuming the rest of the fixing is in good order. As a general point, Lapierre has had some problems with its...

Freego raptor or another ...advice pls

The Raptor is light and simple for an ebike, but it is also light assist. You will be doing a fair bit of pedalling up the steep hill on the commute. That may suit you, so the Raptor could be a very good choice.

    Covert Ops

The difficulty is the 'ringers' come and go and use different names, so outing a particular username is of limited value. I don't think the problem is widespread, but there may have been false posters on here who I've not spotted. After all, if they are any good at what they do, none of us...

    Nuts always getting loose

We used to reuse Nylocs on road cars a couple of times. I can't recall exactly what they were fitted to, but it wasn't anything safety critical. It was also rare to replace a spring or star washer, even though strictly they are also single use. On a related topic, when my brother was in the...

    Ebikes on the telly

Sky is launching a 24hr cycling channel. No doubt it will mostly be about unpowered cycling, but ebikes do get a mention in the blurb: http://www.skymedia.co.uk/news/bike-channel-to-launch.aspx

    Helmets @ Aldi

Time to retell my Aldi helmet purchase story. At the checkout, the young man asked: "Is that for you?" "Yes," I replied. "I'm going to use it on my bicycle." "Ah," he said. "I thought you didn't look like a snowboarder."

    Nuts always getting loose

Makes sense on a more extreme application such as a rally car. As regards spare split pins, a castlellated nut can be used without one, although I was only posting in the spirit of other locking nuts, rather than a serious suggestion for the OP. I've never liked locking goo on threads, same as...

Cadence Sensor, Torque Sensor or Throttle?

I can't vote because the system I like best - Bosch - has cadence and torque sensors. A start assist throttle on a Bosch bike would be of use to me occasionally. The Bosch Classic S-Pedelecs had one, don't know about the latest motors.

Have castlellated nuts and a split pin been mentioned? You would need a hole in the thread as well.

Another way to look at it is you can load the bike with more shopping in future because the motor will take some of the strain. Your bike has a rack, so a couple of basic pannier bags will give you a fair bit of carrying capacity. It will also be very satisfying to carve your way through a...

    Cycle Mirror

Utility cycling - something else you can do on an ebike. That trip will have saved you a couple of quid in motoring costs, you will have had a bit of fresh air and exercise, and the chances are you will have interacted more with other people than you would have done in the car So it's all good.
