    Do you swing both ways?

You are doing well as One Box says, so don't make any dramatic changes which could derail that. Continue using the Wisper to commute and do some leisure rides unpowered - if you have the time. You mention using full assist for the commute. I don't know the Wisper, but you could try rationing...

Suggestions for Pashley Picador 3 speed conversion

Emma who posts on here as twinkle is your man, or rather woman. She's done several trike conversions.

    So I bought one...

The Bosch Performance motor has noticeably more torque than the standard one. The standard one is a decent climber, if you are prepared to ride it like a bicycle by changing down for hills and putting in some effort. Plenty of more powerful hub and crank kits available for those who want a...

    Chris Evans & Top Gear

Evans is no stranger to following hard acts. He did the same with Wogan on the BBC R2 breakfast show. It took him a while to make that work - he said so himself - but it's still the UK's most listened to radio programme by a long way. Evans has some motoring pedigree - his collection of...

    Buying abroad...

Two different bikes, the Ghost is more trekking style with mudguards, carrier, lights, and tyres more suited to roads or well made paths. The Haibike is more of a mountain bike. No mounts for a carrier, although you could use a seat post one, or the expensive Thule one which mounts on the seat...

    Do you swing both ways?

Come on Alex, the bike didn't fly up the hill, you did. If I recall, you are a good weight for climbing in that you don't have much of it. I'm pleased you are enjoying the new bike, one never knows about these things and you've made a big change in bike type. It would be a shame in a way to...

How much power am I contributing?

'Some' is the key word. A fit cyclist will inevitably lose some edge off his fitness on an ebike. It's different for the rest of us. I am like you in that ebiking made me a little bit fitter, albeit starting from a very low base. Also like you, it's the distance I like so an ebike gives me a...

How much power am I contributing?

One of the problems - if you can call it that - with ebikes is they don't do a lot to get you fit. Or if you are already cycling fit, you will lose some of that fitness. Pedal sensor bikes such as yours are even worse in that respect. At least with a torque sensor bike - such as a Bosch...

Wringing mileage out of a Bosch battery

And you ride too fast. When I'm bowling along in eco at 8/9mph the motor is cutting in and out, so I'm doing brief sections unpowered. Being Bosch, it's still very smooth although the on/off noise of the motor takes a bit of getting used to. Above about 10mph the motor will run all the time.

Wringing mileage out of a Bosch battery

When I say the Bosch indicator is fairly linear I am basing that on running the battery flat many times over the last three years. The last bar tends not to last as long, which is why I am ignoring it for the purpose of the calculation.

Wringing mileage out of a Bosch battery

About 10-12mph, pretty much my usual pace although it was too hot today for flying about.

Wringing mileage out of a Bosch battery

With my 90 mile Berwick ride in mind I've been seeing how far I can get on eco assist setting on my Rose/Bosch bike. The second bar on the indicator went out today at 38 miles. The indicator has five bars and is fairly linear. Even ignoring the last bar, I reckon a range of 70+ miles is...

2015 Kalkoff Tasman Impulse 8 HS 17Ah low step 46cm frame

Raising the gearing can in theory be done in two ways. Fitting a smaller rear sprocket, or a bigger ring at the front. As will all things bicycles, there can be complications. A smaller rear sprocket is probably the simplest, assuming you don't already have the smallest. The chain will...

    Punctures............

Thin sidewalls cannot withstand the extra load from an ebike. Lots of instances of sidewall problems on converted bikes and some from woosh. The extra dead weight of an ebike does make a difference. Hub motors also appear to torture tyres, maybe it's the snappier acceleration of the newer...

would range suffer for more powerfull moter focus jafira impulse 2?

The battery on the Focus is significantly bigger, so you would get a better range than you do now no matter how you use the new bike. The Focus will be a better climber than your Uno, but it's a crank drive so delivers its power differently. I like crank drives, you may not, so best have a go...

    Do you swing both ways?

Quite, it's genuinely beyond me why a push bike rider should be so upset by someone riding responsibly on an ebike. As you know, some mountain bikers see ebikes as motorbikes and fear they will damage trails and cause them to be closed. Happily, very few people hammer around on Stealth Bombers.

    Do you swing both ways?

It was a test ride on a KTM Ultra that made me think seriously about an unpowered bike. I really liked it, but I was away from home at the time and would have to have left it in my hatchback overnight in two hotel car parks. I enquired about a KTM when I returned, but stock wasn't available...
