    Researching for leccie bike

Woosh and Kudos are two value brands who both offer folders. The owners of both businesses post on here and customer service from both is good. To coin a phrase, the bikes are what they are - excellent value, but you are not going to get anywhere top quality for under £1,000. Why do you want...

Tool kit, Servicing and Maintenance question

A puncture is the most overwhelmingly likely source of a breakdown, so that's what you need to prepare most for. As you have hub gears one end and a motor the other, wheel removal will be a consideration. The hub will have 15mm dome nuts, they are tight so you will need to carry a proper...

Hub gears and throttle for £1,000

Having gained a reputation locally as an ebike expert, I have been asked to recommend a bike with hub gears and a throttle for about £1,000. The one that immediately springs to mind is eZee Sprint 8, but I don't know if it has a throttle. The web page doesn't mention one, but something rings a...

    d8veh bike ebay speculation

Oh dear. A Kraken is a £400 bike, and a 250W hub kit and battery isn't a lot more. If the back story is true, the OAP who paid £2,000 for it has been badly ripped off by somebody.

New bofeili mid drive mountain ebike

The spec on the link says 500W. Price is a hard one, it's a no name bike, but if you slapped a Stromer sticker on it, it would be £4K.

    The Brommie's gone

The smaller dealers can compete because they offer the same product and price (roughly) as the bigger dealers. It then comes down to territory and service. The customer gains no benefit from buying from a dealer miles away from his nearest one. I doubt you will find any written evidence of...

Video of the Bafang BBS02 kit

I understand the video doesn't have to stand alone. But it would be more natural to start with a couple of sentences explaining what an ebike is.

New bofeili mid drive mountain ebike

Ah, so it was the same one I saw at the NEC last year. Like KudosDave, I had a bit of a non-conversation with the guy on the stand.

    The Brommie's gone

Brompton has also always been able to order dealers around in a way other manufacturers cannot. A couple of years ago, Brompton insisted every dealer has an up to date demo. The latest missive is dealers have to stock three or more bikes. Brompton also successfully ban couriered sales - you...

New bofeili mid drive mountain ebike

Nice. The integrated display is a neat touch, the handlebar mounted ones can be vulnerable to knocks.

    The Brommie's gone

I suppose Brompton's glacial pace of product development also helps. A buyer of a five-year-old one doesn't lose a lot compared to new. They are also known to be fully serviceable, no problems getting spare parts, albeit they can be a few pounds more than bits for other bikes.

    Couple of questions..

Agree with the others, a hydraulic disc on the front is all you need, unless you want to do broadside stops.

    The Brommie's gone

Bromptons seem to hold value better than any other bike. Presentation also helped. The bike was in excellent condition, and I'm told the buyer's husband - a Brommie owner - was pleased to see the original handbook, Nano instructions, spare fuses for the charger, etc.

    The Brommie's gone

After some soul searching, I decided it was time to sell my Brompton Nano. Much as I like it, it was only being used for short journeys, and sometimes being used just to condition the battery. I didn't 'pop it in the boot of the car' as often as I thought I would, and taking the MH7 in the car...

Electric Bikes on the Gadget Show

Don't forget to tell the viewers crank drive is best, all Chinese bikes are garbage, and nothing under £2K is worth buying.

    Cycling Near-misses

A mate of mine is a former Sustrans ranger. He claims no inside knowledge, but his view on cycle paths is: "Use them or lose them."

ebike for commuting & pre-school runs & bike shed size problem

The only cable on the seat post is the one for the front mech. This seat has a metal plate designed to mount and still allow the cable to work - see page 44 of the instructions. I imagine other seats have similar fixings, there are lots of front mech bikes around...

ebike for commuting & pre-school runs & bike shed size problem

The MTB should be shorter because the EMate City has a long chain stay to accommodate the seat post battery. Clip on LED rechargeable lights are that good these days you really don't need lights connected to the main battery.

ebike for commuting & pre-school runs & bike shed size problem

What about the Oxygen MTB? It has a throttle, and the bottle battery means it shouldn't be a long bike. The rear end is like a standard bike, so should take a canti child seat or whatever type of carrier you need. http://www.oxygenbicycles.com/e-bikes/e-mate-mtb-13ah
