I don't know why you ruled out the Sonata. This bike has a decent motor and pedelec rotational sensor, you don't have to pedal as hard as you would with the Bosch or Yamaha CD motors to climb hills. KD will let you try his bikes and return if you don't want to keep for £25. I'd pay £25 to try...

The market size in France is bit bigger than here butnot much (France: about 35,000 a year), yet you can buy an e-bike for 300 Euros to 400 Euros in a French super market, why not here?

    will i notice a differance on hills 26" v 700c

On assist level 5, the kit should be about 10% faster than your Vita Uno but that depends also on the tyres of the converted bike. Test the bike and let us know the result.

    Cyclamatic powerplus battery problems...anyone else?

I think at this stage, the OP has just contacted call centres, they have been told to call again on Monday and talk to support, then if they still want a refund, Tesco will refund them, SportsHQ will retrieve the bike. It must be a simple problem with the battery but as the bike is DOA and the...

Clacking noise - Kalkhoff Impulse 2 motor

sorry if going off topic, I feel there is a wider issue concerning all sellers and manufacturers, not just 50C and K. Problems with maintenance aside, sometime it happens that as an early adopter, you are unlucky with something like a new motor. If the revised motor can be fitted to the old...

Hung for a sheep or lamb.....

I've shown dozens of people how to ride an e-bike. As it's often the case, many elderly women have not ridden much in the last twenty years. Their legs are not what they used to be. The most successful method is to start riding with the throttle. Everyone gets it right in seconds and I can...

What connectors for e-bike battery terminals

As OldBob1 said, you only need two terminals. Leave the cover out, slot the battery into the controller box. Switch on the battery and use your volt meter to identify the batt+ and batt- terminals. They need to be connected to the motor, batt+ to motor red, batt- to motor black, using 12 gauge...

    2 bikes 1 e-bike system?

A motor wheel without battery will add about 2.2kg, controller, LCD, wiring and battery base will add about 0.4kg. Total extra weight is about 2.6kgs. You don't feel it when cycling. I ride my Giant D5 with the whole kit (10.2kg bike + 5.8kg for the electrics) often without power and it feels...

    2 bikes 1 e-bike system?

IIRC, the Copenhagen Wheel has an internal torque sensor to detect when you pedal. There are other solutions like the Add-E https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/add-e-simply-add-electricity-to-your-bicycle#/ None of them is cheap. The cheapest solution is as Kiwi said, buy two kits and one...

I recommend them only when someone is on a budget of less than £1,000 and where their particular model or models have merits.

    variable regenerative braking

You wrote 'the often ignored and wrongly-criticised DD rear hub motor'. The criticism leveled against DD motors is often about their low efficiency at low revs. DD motors produce relatively low torque despite having a large core. Another often cited criticism against DD motor is the small drag...

What connectors for e-bike battery terminals

the battery when shipped is loaded with 50% charge. It may have lost a little bit in transit. If you have a 12AH battery and a 2A charger, that will be 6AH to charge up, 3 hour. The charger's LED will go green when it's all done. There is no risk, you can leave the charger on overnight.

    variable regenerative braking

from the Xion manual: 12 Nm rated torque 41 Nm maximum torque Even the 41NM figure is not great compared to the 8-Fun BPM and many popular crank drive motors. That torque figure is produced also at low efficiency.

Anyone Fancying a PUNT on the new Impulse Evo bike in 2016

no argument from me there. I even think that e-bikes should be an easy, convenient, lightweight, democratic, healthy and CHEAP transport.
