    AC/DC

How confusing. One tends to think the B&M upgraded light runs on the same type of power as the lower range one. But I agree the electronics of a new ebike is not a suitable test bed. Worth pointing out modern hub dynamos can run powerful beams at very low ground speeds. There's an American...

    Massive momentum ;-)

I prefer front hub motors for spoke safety and, to a lesser extent, weight distribution. It's a matter of plain common sense that spokes are tortured on a rear wheel with a disc brake, weight of the rider and hub motor. Equally true that wheels can be built to do the job, if d8 says the Oxygen...

    Aldi cycling day

Reminiscent of the pit villages in County Durham where the pit owner owned the houses the miners lived in. No doubt lots of miners were content with the arrangement. There will be Chinese factory workers who are not and don't regard themselves as downtrodden. It is hard to make a case for...

    NEC Bike Show this Saturday

The cost of getting to that there London will be more than £16, even assuming you can blag a freebie.

    Aldi cycling day

I'm no lily-livered liberal, quite the reverse. But the points made by tillson have been preying on my mind a little. No easy answer for the concerned consumer. The same 'cheap' Chinese goods are often sold at wildly varying prices, so paying more is no guarantee of getting something that has...

    Massive momentum ;-)

The gearing on your bike sounds OK, and I'm sure you and one of the motors mentioned will be able to get up hills much faster. A hub motor is probably best for the reasons outlined by d8 upthread. They tend to be quieter, only downside can be wheel removal for a puncture, but you can engineer...

e bike newbie Cyclamatic or Woosh?

I think there's something going on here.

    Massive momentum ;-)

Your desire to increase speed rather than reduce effort could be a problem. You are already averaging 15mph, and would need to up that by several mph to produce any worthwhile time saving. Ebikes in general are not built for road speed. Banging on a high power motor might give you the grunt...

Help needed with car door latch problem

Spray now and in the morning. I know it's not the fixing in the pic, but that one is a Torx, so check yours is not. An impact driver shocks the thread. You can replicate this by smacking the end of your screwdriver with a hammer while at the same time applying some undoing force.

E-MTB needed for bigger person with 'one leg'

The Force looks a nice bike, and as you have found, has decent equipment for the money. Don't take any notice of the quoted range of 190km - complete cobblers. No doubt Col/Eddie will be along in a minute to say it is 'up to'. Realistic range for a Bosch bike, pedalling fairly hard in low...

    Lights again

At least you will get a good view of the dazzled motorist in the second before he catapults you into the after life.

    KTM Corner

A few other KTM branded bits on ebay, Eddie, to complete the Team KTM look. I spotted helmets, gloves, water bottles, bottle holders, and there's probably a few more. Kind of you to attempt to repair the reputation of KTM on here after Col made such a mess of it in recent weeks. Speaking of...

    Derestricting Bosch Gen 2

As D8 says, Badass is the way to go. The dongle simply clips on to the speed sensor on the chainstay - no wiring, butchering or any other ing. Does the same job, and can be whipped off in seconds. I know, I have one. Oh, and it's cheaper than the wired ones. Ask for Lui - nice guy.

70 plus years on me bike

Peter, You've confused me now, I didn't realise you already have ebikes. I do get why you've replaced the Giant, it's done well for 12 or so years but I expect a refurb might not be cost effective. Unpowered bikes are much simpler and more reliable, so the longer you can manage with one the...

Anyone seen this? Hydrogen powered bike

Having to run through a battery rather spoils this. Looks like the hydrogen bit weighs 2-3kg, so you may as well carry a spare battery. Fair play to the prof, he does say in the interview the bike was built to show his students hydrogen power is not just about enormous commercial...

    Rear wheel off center

There will always be a tiny bit of drag, but the Bosch system has more drag when the wheel is going backwards.

    Rear wheel off center

The wheel does not appear to be straight, so is probably not fully home in the drop outs - the slots in the frame. It might be easier if you up end the bike, take off the handlebar display first to prevent damage. It should then be possible to fit the wheel properly.

70 plus years on me bike

Nice bike, although I'm not quite sure how it is an upgrade on your Giant.
