    Tyre Anomolly

If you said wider tyres roll better than narrow ones many cyclists would give you an argument. Yet this is what Schwalbe say on the subject: Why do wide tires roll better than narrow ones? The answer to this question lies in tire deflection. Each tire is flattened a little under load. This...

Anyone re- celling old battery cases.

Not posted for 10 days or so, but last seen today. Looks like he's reached 10,000 posts and got stuck: http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/members/d8veh.4366/

Aldi puncture repair canister.... First try!

Schwalbe say it's impossible to get a good idea of pressure with the squeeze test on their tyres. I think the puncture protection and other reinforcements renders the test meaningless, so always best to use a gauge.

comments from strangers when out on your ebike....

I agree a comment like the car wash one is wearisome, but absolutely harmless. But however you cut it, cheating is universally regarded as a negative, undesirable, dishonest act. Calling someone a cheat is a nasty insult. Much as I try to rise above it, it annoys and frustrates me to have the...

Hi Mike Wilson, living in the South of France with too many hills and a baby!

I think 50 miles a day - every day - is too much on an ebike. Saddle time alone will be four hours or more. Then there's weather and traffic to contend with. At the very least you need to try an ebike yourself before deciding. Good news there is the Kalkhoff seller in the UK, 50 Cycles, do...

    Newcomer with Puncture Problems

Buy a decent track pump if you don't have one so you can run at fairly high pressures. My AVE is 20" on Schwalbe balloon tyres. I have about 60psi in the back, a few psi less in the front - no punctures so far. I'm not sure if you can get Marathon Plus in 20", but Schwalbe's most puncture...

Aldi puncture repair canister.... First try!

I have something like the Lezyne pump in Eddie's post. About £20, nicely made and best of all - it works. I'm sure the Topeak is just as good. Cheapo pumps are false economy. Minimum £20 and a known brand is the way to go.

    Freego Bikes

I used to think that, but the current Freegos have a bit of quality about them, so you do get something for the extra money over woosh prices. The OP talks about not having to worry about the bikes. All bikes need fettling, some ebikes more so, so if you are a worrier an ebike may not be for...

Oxygen E Mate Electric Bike rear wheel???

Obvious answer is to ask Oxygen. But I am fairly confident I can tell you there is a plug/socket in the cable which runs along the chainstay. Unplug that and the wheel will come out. Bear in mind you will need a spanner because there's no quick release on the rear wheel.

One thing's for sure, you won't be getting a tax disc for it.

    Gazelle Experience ?

Gazelles are better made than a lot of bikes, including some at similar prices. The finish and attention to detail is only apparent in the metal, so worth a look. At one time Gazelles, in common with a lot of Dutch ebikes, had relatively weak motors. I think that's been largely sorted now...

Newby in Yorkshire with a giant rs2

You are not far from Oxygen. A ride on their MTB will give you a good idea of the grunt available from one of the more powerful legal ebikes. http://www.oxygenbicycles.com/

    KTM Corner

I spoke to a keen mountain biker who said he was using his fat bike more and more in preference to his other bikes. They are a bit slow on road/hardpack, but very versatile in other respects. Not sure about suspension on fat bikes though, the idea is the enormous tyres do that job.

Hybrid Mudguards for KTM Macina Cross 9 ?

    Post-pedelec bike?

Light weight and step through don't really go together - the frame is heavier gauge to make up for the absence of a cross bar. Brommies can wobble a bit - have you tried a front-mounted bag? The weight over the front wheel stabilises the steering quite a lot.

    Heads Up to Stolen Bike

This now appears to be a civil dispute between the insurance company and the finder. Far be it from me to stick up for unhelpful coppers, but it's really not one for them. Doesn't this guy have a small boat yard or outboard repair business? He might care about his reputation locally, so it...

    Another "what bike" sorry!

Good reports from members on here about Onbike in Kidderminster. A lot of their stuff is £2K plus, but I see there's a nice KTM on their front page for £1,700. http://www.onbike.co.uk/
