    NEC Bike Show this Saturday

Makes a lot of sense. I think Moustache has taken the opportunity to reduce the gearing a little bit. That makes sense to me as an owner of two Bosch bikes. Neither has a very low first gear, which is something you might really need on a fat bike.

Tyre pressures turned my bike into a boneshaker

Standard fitting on my AVE, although I run them closer to maximum psi. I think the bike is surprisingly comfortable for a 20" wheeler, but we are heavily into subjectivity now. The comfort of my AVE may have something to do with the frame. Cheap ally frames are notoriously harsh, but the AVE...

Tyre pressures turned my bike into a boneshaker

You are not especially heavy, and the greater the volume of the tyre the lower pressure it can handle. Two inch plus wide is fairly podgy, and 40psi minimum is about what I would expect as a maker's recommendation. Your biggest problem is likely to be with the rear wheel, so try that at...

    NEC Bike Show this Saturday

A couple of the riders in my group run mountain bikes with shallow tread tyres in summer and knobblies in the winter. It's a sensible way to go, although in pushbike terms you are cycling a relatively heavy bike. A mountain bike is also a good 'one bike' proposition because you can fit fast...

    Lidl Heads Up

The extra length of behind the seatpost battery bikes means an ordinary cover won't fit, so in that situation a small motorbike cover is just the job.

Tyre pressures turned my bike into a boneshaker

Doesn't sound ideal, but to comment we need the exact tyre size, your weight and the make of the bike.

As someone who wants to put in some effort you are an ideal candidate for a Bosch bike. Style is important to you and you like the Cube, so I'm not sure what there is left to discuss. You could spend weeks and months researching an almost limitless number of models, or you could get riding...

    Folders with pedelec and throttle

A lot of the bikes seem to suffer from niggling faults, but woosh do offer decent back-up.

    Folders with pedelec and throttle

Depends on who is doing the converting. The Brompton Nano comes with throttle only or throttle and pedelec. http://www.nanoelectricbikes.co.uk/

    NEC Bike Show this Saturday

I made a snap decision to pay the show a visit. Firstly, well done to all the exhibitors who showed confidence in their businesses by taking stands. Not cheap - thousands a day depending on size. Of the regulars on here, I had a few words with David Miall from Freego Wisper Group - one of the...

    Heads Up to Stolen Bike

Not as daft as it sounds in rural County Durham. I once saw some of the paperwork for a pitched battle outside a pub in Stanley. A couple of the witnesses said in their statements to police something along the lines of: "Yes I was fighting, but what's it got to do with you?" Of course...

    AC/DC

Hard to make a case for dynamos on an ebike, but the advantages, such as they are: Always available - I'm guessing once the controller shuts down the battery to prevent over discharge, that's it, no lights, even though there's plenty of juice in the battery. Standard bulbs - hard wired lights...

    Heads Up to Stolen Bike

I wish I could argue with your remarks about the police, but sadly they are spot on. The finder/ebay seller doesn't appear to be a criminal, but if it was me, I would be offering you the bike for nothing. OK, the insurance company own it, but it's up to you to inform them it has come back into...

    Aldi cycling day

I think that's the danger with all the Aldi/Lidl special buys. A lot of the stuff is cheap and reasonable quality, so very tempting. Aldi/Lidl are also not daft, they know us guys love tools and gadgets.

    Massive momentum ;-)

New Oxygen MTBs a couple of weeks ago - the second one was fresh out the box. Fair play to them, they were helpful with a test ride. I also saw a decent stock of bikes and spares so it does look like Oxygen is now properly set up.

Help needed with car door latch problem

The fixing will probably not have been moved since it left the factory. Probably no more than overspray in the thread of the captive nut, assembled 'just in time' before the paint dried.

    Falco e-motors kickstarter project

Quite right. Me and d8 have never met and disagree on some things, but there's no need to put the guy to proof over his motives for posting here. As he says, reading the forum over a few months rather than a few weeks is the key.

Look, woosh gets lots of recommendations on here because lots of the blokes on here fancy Hatti. Is that transparent enough for you?

    Massive momentum ;-)

It's an example I've thought of many times, another is the E-type Jaguar which managed 400bhp with spokes. The difference is there are not many stories of spokes breaking as there are with bikes, ebikes and rear hub motored ebikes in particular. I don't know enough to judge, but the Oxygen kit...

    Aldi cycling day

I had a look at a £20 shower proof jacket. A couple left in my size, and it looked OK. But then I thought: would I use it? I don't go out in the rain, or if it is likely to rain. I take shelter or just suffer if it starts raining on the way round. Seems to me that type of jacket is more for...
