Pity he didn't take a pic of the bike after the ride.

    How to "fix" Brake Fade

Sounds like the brakes overheated. A different descending technique may help. The classic way is to haul the bike down to slower than you want, let it go for as long as you dare, haul it down, and repeat. This will not heat the brakes so much overall because they have a chance to cool a bit...

    Help

The Big Bear is from woosh's newer range and there's no doubt their bikes have improved over the last few years. You don''t give details of proposed use, but most people find they want to undertake longer journeys than they first thought. The bigger battery on the Bear is worth having, not...

    Heinzmann AWD CargoPower Drive System

Putting the cargo weight low down and in the middle makes more sense than having it perched on top of the rear wheel. On t'other hand, it looks like the R&M bike has rod steering so I doubt it handles like a thoroughbred. More Escort van than Merc estate I expect.

    Help

Riding any ebike in this price range unassisted is not much fun. When it comes to it, I doubt you will. The woosh Big Bear has a bigger battery and a more powerful motor than the Sundowner, which is now an older model.

Are eBikes becoming cool? Lapierre Overvolt in Metro Mag's 'Lust List'

I dunno about that, but it was the wrong side of cool on my ride today.

I think you are a pair of rotters dropping Will like that. Actually, it's surprisingly easy to lose touch with a buddy on a group ride. I've done it a few times.

    Would you convert this bike?

Weight and ebikes go hand in hand. A ready made ebike - even an expensive one - will be more than 20kg. Removing the battery gets rid of a kilo or three and makes for easier lifting. I reckon your bike converted and a budget ready made bike will weigh about the same.

    Would you convert this bike?

But only one, presumably. Nothing to stop the OP buying another to match the pair.

    Would you convert this bike?

The tyres are almost certainly 700X38, not X88. The second number refers to the width in mm. That size is fine, but ebiking does put extra strain on tyres so best to replace them with something sturdy. Schwalbe make ebike specific tyres. You don't have to have those, but something from their...

    Magura worse than Banks

It would be interesting to know how Magura are regarded in the Fatherland. We tend to think anything German must be superior, but there's bound to be rubbish companies over there, same as there are here. Rose, being German, fit Magura brakes. They have been reliable on my bike, but I've...

    Magura worse than Banks

No excuse, but Magura may have the hump over their Bosch contract not being renewed next year. Perhaps they intend to go out on a low note.

    Magura worse than Banks

Yet another reason why Bosch starting their own UK support next year is such good news - assuming it happens.

    Magura worse than Banks

I regard losing it very occasionally as a good thing - shows you've still got some red blood in your veins and a bit of spark about you. Your next tactic could be to mention the war.

    Crank drive info please

Sixty miles means a 15ah or more battery which means weight and bulk. What you seek does not exist, nor will it for the foreseeable future. You can have light(ish) weight or range, you cannot have both.

    A Statement from Bosch

This quote is the interesting part of the original post. Dongles have been done to death, time and time again, the same tired old arguments, the same stupid scaremongering from those with axes to grind. But the start of dedicated UK support from Bosch is news, and good news at that. Let's...
