If its two wire, then chances are it's simply a pulse.

They are connected though, (most of the time) by the road. Within reason this will ensure that they both spin at the correct rate.

A momentary switch would be a lot easier, as only two wires. It also returns to off when you let go. That throttle might work, but its probably a hall effect sensor, so would require 0v, 5v and possibly even a relay.
