Santa's sleigh is on it's way

Clear enough to be seen from my part of Devon. An awesome sight. Of course I told my little boy it was Santa, but I was more exited about seeing the ISS.

S series controllers and P5 parameter

The battery indicator was showing about 50% just before shutdown. I have a brand new 36v 20ah shrink wrap lithium ion from bms....

S series controllers and P5 parameter

Hi all, Has anyone had experience with new (ish) S series controllers from BMS? I took the bike out for a quick blast today, and it completely cut out on me, after a long, hard climb. The LCD went off, no power, dead. I got it home, and tried to turn it back on. It came on for about 1/2 sec...

    Hit the 1000km mark today

Well done on cracking the 1000 mark! Xmas 2012 Mrs H bought me one of those cheap little bike computers. I'd never been bothered before about milleage, but I decided to set myself a challenge - 1000 miles in 2013. I hit my target in early September, so I know exactly how you felt when the...

    Bafang CST or BPM

So it's all up and running and needs a load of tidying, but boy does it go. It eats the hills round here for breakfast. I really like those s-series LCD displays, makes everything nice and neat. The next build should be a bit more straight forward as I won't have to rebuild the bike from the...

    Bafang CST or BPM

With luck I will get the first one up and running today. The first one needed to be dished over by about 15mm, and I expect the second will be the same. For anyone else who did not take D8veh's advice to order a spoke wrench from BMS when you order a motor: The nipples are about 3.8mm, bike...

    3 lights off 36v Battery

Pretty much any switch capable of handling 1A will work. One of these will do the job, as long as you keep it in the 36v circuit, where the current will be lower. http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?sbk=1&nav=SEARCH&itemId=180684360322

The goods have turned up, and I have so far not been asked to pay any extra postage, or any import duty. May get a letter at some point I guess. All present, correct and well packaged. Good job BMS Battery! Interestingly, it looks like batteries under 100 wh are allowed, and mine are both...

    Honda Kushi

Just happened to notice that these are for sale on eBay, between £550 and £695. Is it me, or is this the most primitive, underspecced and over priced machine available today? 39 kilos. 15ah of SLA. 12.4 mph top speed. 85 kilo max load. Some people are going to be fooled by the Honda name into...

Bafang CST with Avid BB5 160mm

I assume the OP is talking about the material the brake pad is made of. They come in a few different types - sintered metal, and organic being two examples. http://m.pinkbike.com/news/brake-pad-information-2009.html

If its two wire, then chances are it's simply a pulse.

    two wheel drive

They are connected though, (most of the time) by the road. Within reason this will ensure that they both spin at the correct rate.

    thumb throttle

I took robdons quote from andrewelectricbike1 about the switch at face value, and did no thinking whatsoever! Now I've had a breif think, of course it won't work like that. If it did, then if you stopped peddling with the magnet ring in the right place, then the bike would carry on (presumably...

Is anybodys new year resolution to buy/build a new e-bike?

Not really new years resolution, but I'm just about to put together a couple of MTB's for off road. Chinese supply hub motors, (Bafang CST, 500w), budget of about £600 + donor bikes. This will include 20ah batteries, giving a range around 40 miles (if ridden carefully. I normally ride it like...

    thumb throttle

A momentary switch would be a lot easier, as only two wires. It also returns to off when you let go. That throttle might work, but its probably a hall effect sensor, so would require 0v, 5v and possibly even a relay.

I asked them to confirm the postage situation, and got the following reply: " Hi, send your order by TNT ? Is ok ?".
