Bafang hub opener tool - anyone sell/hire/lend me ?

as far as I remember (the last time I opened one of those was 3 years ago), the core is held between two ball bearings - the bearings are pressured into the aluminium housing. All it needed is a very sharp tap. inside is something like this:

You may have a light switch on the LED panel, then the small wires are usually used to switch on the rear light.

Bafang hub opener tool - anyone sell/hire/lend me ?

it may help you to woble the spindle a bit on the opened side. I'd put the wheel nut back on the rotor side for a bigger surface to hit, piece of wood over it, then one big hit - the core will drop.

you can drill them out for now. When you put the lid back on, you'll have to stop when the lid is tightly shut, the holes from the lid probably won't line up with the old holes on the motor shell, you will have to drill and thread new holes an put in a new grub screw anyway.

    Convert my Rockhopper help

@Andrew: no, one charger per pack. As you have 36V 8AH, one charger would take 7 hours (limited to 50W max) for a full charge from flat, two chargers would cut that down to half.

@DM: would you please post more details on what the guy was fined €2,200 for? lots of us ride our bikes in Europe and so far, I have never heard of anyone getting fined for having a throttle.

Motor, controller and LCD: no problem there. you may need two chargers. Each HK6 does only 50W charging at most. You also need 10 cell monitors to avoid draining too much on the batteries.

    Police crackdown on illegal e-bikes

I don't get this. If a customer buys and fits a dongle to his bike, or if he changes the speed limit on his LCD, his bike is safe according to the quote above. There is no need to do both. Or did I miss something here?

The positioning of the battery is particularly difficult in this case because of the lack of space inside the triangle. I would look at the possibility to mount a rack battery to the seat stays.

    help to get started

Switch off first. Do you have a LED panel or LCD? If you do, connect the LCD or LED panel, try changing the settings and check the voltage bar. If you don't, skip that step. Then connect the motor phase wires, hall wires (if your motor has them) and throttle. Then try the throttle. Then connect...

    help to get started

It's logical to connect Batt+ to Vcc. This connection is normally made by the LED panel or LCD. I'd use a 200mA fuse to connect red (2, 40V) to red (7,0V). If the red on the throttle shows 5V, then red (7,0V) is the correct ignition wire because it powers up the 5V rail. Then I would remove the...

Anyone re- celling old battery cases.

@cwah: I think he has the early 36V 6AH aluminium water bottle. Like this one: It would be easier to replace the old bottle with a new one.

    Battery Configuration

@OF: Most members who buy from China buy batteries from bmsbattery.com with their motor wheels to reduce shipping cost. I did not mean to denigrate HK lipo - they are good choice if you want the lightest possible batteries, although new high tech Lithium ion batteries are quite light, like this...

    Battery information please

I'd take the offer of £380 for a new battery. Your bike won't be worth much second hand without a BH battery. Alternatively, ask d8veh if he can repair the old battery for you. Woosh also do recelling if one of their batteries can be refitted inside your case.
