One step away from buying - Oxydrive CST HT 13Ah or Woosh

your choice is prettry limited. You'd need 15AH battery for the busy days. The cheapest option is as Geebee said, buy a woosh Big Bear.

    Which battery to buy

the one by bmsbattery looks very good. I'd be sorely tempted to hit the buy button. However, have you got the case for it?

controller(?) problem - is it easy to fix?

the LED display is unusually sparse, so it can be eliminated for now from the suspects - how do you change the assist level?

controller(?) problem - is it easy to fix?

the problem may not be caused by the controller. can you post a picture of the LED panel for identification?

One step away from buying - Oxydrive CST HT 13Ah or Woosh

with the mileage that you have to do, forget the Woosh CST, big motors like the Ezee and the BPM are much harder wearing.

Bafang hub opener tool - anyone sell/hire/lend me ?

suggestion: take it to a garage to get some help with removing the ball bearing. the motor spindle is made of steel, it bends fairly easily, also easy to straighten.

then there may be opportunities for someone to bring in high speed electric motocycles, not pedelecs. capable of 50mph+. like this cheap one:

    Police crackdown on illegal e-bikes

@KD: the dongle is so easy to fit that I guess that most are sold by mail order companies and the customers do the fitting themselves. The S-pedelec is another issue altogether, whenever our government decide to harmonize with Europe (ie replace our specs with EN15194), there is a strong...

    Police crackdown on illegal e-bikes

The article quotes a non-attributed source, there has been no record of fines or other sanctions - everywhere else in the EU, the police aren't bothered with dongles so why here?

Bafang hub opener tool - anyone sell/hire/lend me ?

you need to remove the ball bearing which seems stuck to the spindle with a bit of rust. after that, if I remember correctly, remove a small circlip that retains the gearbox then the gearbox will slide out.

    Police crackdown on illegal e-bikes

So, how many dongles are sold in the UK so far? I am willing to bet that number is only in the low hundreds. isn't it strange that some traders take every opportunity to peddle fear whenever someone talks about dongles and yet, there never has been any real fact to support their propaganda. The...

    Where/what battery to buy

Batteries with Samsung cells can deliver up to 2C continuously for hill climbing. That's 26A for 13AH batteries and 30A for 15AH batteries (more than 1000W). That does not mean that your battery manufacturer are going to fit high discharge BMS automatically, you need to check the specifications...

    Police crackdown on illegal e-bikes

@Col: your opinion on the individuals who derestrict their bikes verges on paranoia. The police should be more concerned with the young agressive riders who use their bike like a weight training kit in a gym even on narrow paths, than a few pensioners who get a dongle for their bike. There...

    Police crackdown on illegal e-bikes

@Col: the original starting point was about dongle. Having one does not make the bike unsafe, you still have to pedal at the speed you are riding at and typically, up to around 20mph. The risk of causing an accident is about the same, riding at the same speed unassisted. Why do you have to...

How do you adjust the brake lever for small hands.

are your fingers a bit short and you can't hold on to the levers? could post a picture like this one? we'll see the problem better.

How to ship e-bike lithium batteries within the UK?

citylink and interlink accept batteries (must be in working order) as long as you double pack your battery really well (the packaging is supposed to be withstanding 1.2m vertical drop http://www.ups.com/media/news/en/ca/intl_lithium_battery_regulations.pdf ) and affix a DG9 label, you can print...

    Police crackdown on illegal e-bikes

if someone causes an accident riding at 20mph and hitting a pedestrian, I personally can't see the difference between being assisted and not. If you cause an accident sufficiently grave that the authorities need to seize your bike for investigation, those consequences would presumably be about...

    Bafang BBS02 long term reliability

yes. The gearbox will die sooner or later. Broken teeth on cogs, clutch seizing, ball bearings need greasing. You need to consider the trade off between best bits and worst bits. CDs are best on speed, drag and torque, DD is best on mileage and no need for maintenance but worst on torque and...

    Bafang BBS02 long term reliability

based on 3 years service life, for that sort of mileage (50 miles a day), you would be better off with a direct drive motor. No gearbox, less wear and tear. For 30 miles a day, you would be best off with a BPM motor, plenty more torque and cheap and easy to replace gearbox. For less than 20...

    Where/what battery to buy

there aren't many well known sellers for 48V batteries in the UK. I know woosh have 48V 10AH battery kits for £315. http://wooshbikes.co.uk/?batteries#batkit (the 48V 10AH battery kit looks very similar to the 36V 15AH, only the cells are arranged as 13S3P instead of 10S4P). Otherwise, there's...
