it's an excellent idea, but is it legal though?

    Anybody Got A Longer One?

Motors rarely fail, especially if they are direct drives. Chinese manufacturers give 5 year guarantee to their DD motors anyway (3 years for geared motors). Panasonic cell batteries are also given 3 year guarantee by Chinese manufacturers, Samsung cells have 2 years, the rest have 1 year. It...

    Reviving a Dead Battery

problem is often the BMS gets damaged when you go over bumps. There is a need for someone (d8veh?) to design replacement protection switches. They don't seem to be available on aliexpress/ebay.

Hi there newbie wanting a new e bike......

take your BMX (or a Giant Rove), add 8-Fun crank kit - shemozzl has one. He posted a good thread here: http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/electric-bicycles/14590-8fun-crank-drive-kit.html

    a techie question....

700c is the biggest wheel size setting on the LCD, the OP can only change it to 26" or 20", the change can only make the bike worse, speedo will show lower mph, odometer fewer miles. Simply change the speed limit to derestrict the bike and keep wheel setting to 700C will gain some extra top...

    K.I.S.S ~ i.e * no batteries required * an intro to

solar cells come close second. Polysilicon panels now reach new low price of less than 50p per watt. All you need is 100W wearable solar panel for e-biking. Also, there is plenty of energy currently wasted in the surrounding. A strong magnet to get yourself towed by the car in front perhaps?

    Cheap Chinese vs Cheapish Conversion?

Wiring is the most difficult aspect when doing a conversion. Motor cables, battery cables, sensor cables - they are all too long most of the time. The other issue is wheelset. If you buy a motor wheel, the rim and spokes don't match with the other wheel. Lacing the wheel yourself is also a big...

    Wobbly Front Wheel under braking

You could try to reduce the tyre pressure on the front wheel, let the tyre absorb a bit more vibration from the motor and thus the tyre will shift the resonance frequery to lower and reduce resonance. If the vibrations occur only when braking then the brake pads may not have bedded well to your...

    Bocsh service training centre

if the sensor records half the speed then the distance is also halved for the same battery consumption. Would the dongle make the system look like the battery capacity and mileage halved?

I know their meanings, but i just can't get my head around them.

That's a very well reasoned reply. Perhaps more suppliers will do just what you suggest and replace the SWX with BPM and bring the price of BPM bikes down.

I know their meanings, but i just can't get my head around them.

This question is for d8veh. 8-Fun BPM is approximately twice as powerful as their SWX used on most hub bikes sold today. If 8-Fun fit their BPM to their crank drive kit (disregarding the price), would you buy it? and also, would it leave the the hub biting dust in a race?

I know their meanings, but i just can't get my head around them.

I have tried quite a few e-bikes and found that hub motors make you lazy. Most of them require so little effort to go on the flat that you get little benefit from riding e-bikes. Crank bikes on the other hand let you control how much you want to pedal and more importantly, let you control your...

Your budget is insufficient for your needs, my best bet goes for the used Wisper.

I know their meanings, but i just can't get my head around them.

Torque and acceleration are related to one another like radius (torque) and circomference (acceleration). Torque is what makes the wheel turn faster, acceleration is how much faster the wheel turns. In effect, the bigger the torque, the quicker you gain speed. Bigger wheels gain speed faster...

Best ebike for a newbie on diet/fitness regime following a heart attack

Caztaylor, the Wisper has a good battery (36V 14AH) and a good motor, essential for your weight and condition. Whichever bike you buy, get a big battery.

Two years inside for supplying non UN38.3 batteries

Just to clarify with regard to sending e-bikes by courier, e-bike Lithium batteries are specially excluded from ADR as per http://www.unece.org/fileadmin/DAM/trans/danger/publi/adr/adr2011/English/VolumeI.pdf Presumably the batteries on e-vehicules are subject to more rigorous tests than RC...

Two years inside for supplying non UN38.3 batteries

I agree that all e-bike batteries should have UN38.3 attached to it and people should use UN38.3 certified packaging for sending bike batteries by post but i think Dave's interpretation is a bit alarmist. A DGSA is required by substantial consignors, usually the courier company. Dave's...
