    Stuck at the lights

Have a look in the road for where the sensor/s is/are and make sure you ride over them. if you ride too close to the edge, you'd miss them. they're normally squares like this, but can be circular or any shape. They're basically, an inductive loop of wire. If there are two of them, one behind the...

Any experience with the easi-fit kit?

Try it the right way up. I can't see the gyro sensor being in the motor because they'd have to use a non-standard cable. It looks like you have the standard 9-pin connector, so no extra wires for it.

    Pedelec Law - The Details

Probably not legally. First of all, nobody is checking, so it's a bit academic. The problem you have is that it will be plated as an S-pedelec with the speed on the plate. You'd have to remove that and put on a new plate that shows thee new speed of 15.5 mph without it looking like an amateur...

Any experience with the easi-fit kit?

You've installed your motor upside down. The wire should go downwards otherwise the motor might fill up with water.

    Help! Carrera error message 04

On the latest version E04 is the lights. It must be a short on a wire that goes to the lights or something like that to cause a shut-down.

A little puzzle for you to solve

I've been meaning to have a play with one of these things for years. Finally, some arrived in the post today. I wonder what you can do with them?

    Freego eagle

If the panel goes off, it's because the battery has cut-off. Any other problem leaves it switched on because it gets its power directly from the battery, so nothing can interfere with it. 41v is a bit on the low side. It would normally be around 41.5v after a rest from charging and 42v hot off...

I bought an iZIP Trekking Enlightened

Unfortunately, you can't fit a throttle to that version because there's no connector for it and no input on the controller that can read a throttle signal. The spare connector is a programming port. You can change the controller and do some wiring to wire in a new one with a throttle connector...

    Discreet battery solutions

Give www.ebikebatteries.co.uk a call. They can make whatever you want. I'm pretty sure that he's done saddle bag batteries before. I think he has ready-made solutions too.

    Yosepower hub kits.

Take the wheel off. It's always good to photograph the washer and nut arrangement so that you can put them back the same. Take all nuts off the axle. Undo the 6 side-plate screws and tap the opposite end of the axle with a mallet to separate the motor core from the hub. If you can't get at the...

    controller

The ignition wire is normal on cheap controllers, especially the ones without a control panel. The red wire is connected directly to the red battery wire inside the controller, so it's battery voltage coming out, and the blue one provides the power for the controller's pcb. If you don't connect...

    Yosepower hub kits.

The motors are simple and serviceable. The parts inside are cheap to buy too. All machines need servicing sooner or later. 6000km is a lot more than many people got out of their much more expensive ebike systems.

New and with a PAS problem!

Read my post above again. I told you that that's not enough. Unfortunately, you won't be able to solve your problem without testing unless the cause is the motor connector not in far enough. You must either get a meter or take your bike to an electric bike shop that knows how to fix it.

How to get higher top speed

Some of the S-pedelecs weigh the same as any other electric bike. They're basically the standard electric bike with the speed limit raised. It would make a lot more sense to get one of those rather than a US version, which will be slower and more difficult to get hold of. Her's the Haibike...

How to get higher top speed

That's not really an argument. The same cyclist should be able to do the same 20 mph on an electric bike. Elelctric bikes are not speed limited in any way. Only the motor is, and it disengages when you get to 15.5 mph. Electric bikes are a little heavier than non-electric ones. That has...

    Cyclamatic power plus battery charger

It's not critical. The original was around 2 amps, which would be ideal considering time to charge and stress on battery, but anything between 1 amp and 3 amps would be OK. When you get your new charger, it's always worth checking that the pins are polarised the right way round with a meter...

Bike repair scheme on the radio

Today on Radio 4 You and Yours at 12:30 to 12:45 was a programme about the government's bike repair scheme. Being the BBC, there's a definite anti-government slant, so take what they say with a pinch of salt. Normally, the people they get to take part are chosen left wing activists, like me, not...

Any experience with the easi-fit kit?

I always recommend disc brakes on an electric bike because of your higher average speed.. normal rim brakes, IMHO, are just not up to it. Also, as a general rule, I recommend steel forks for a front motor, mainly because of the safety aspects. If you're going to source a bike for conversion with...
