Roadrat Alfine 8 with G370 hub build.

The stem I used out of my spares is 115mm, I feel the reach is tad short as the wheel base feels a tad short as well so the Boardman has a 130mm stem which I will swap over to see if the fit is better.

For lights I have opted out of adding more electrics, I have a Lezyne usb front light coming and for the rear I already have a six year old Lezyne usb which is very bright and has been excellent.

I have a feeling this little G370 could be a great little motor though obviously can't say how it will cope with steep inclines, but for a simple easy installation it will certainly be good for the very light rider and a light bike. At my weight which must be over 13st fully clothed and with two...

Next ride out will be with no power to feel how it rides and must post a pic. The Alfine 8 I like for the simplicity, the twist shift action so much nicer then a thumb shifter. The ability to change up on those occasions you forget having come to stop and the sheer quietness of no chain...

    1000w hub motor

    4. Test the throttle, check for 5v between Gnd & 5v at the controller connection (if it has block/Sm connectors go up the back of the block (use a pair of needles/pins if needed to get a good contact), then check you have about 1v between Gnd & signal with the throttle open.

Roadrat Alfine 8 with G370 hub build.

First road test was to load the panniers full with glass jars & bottles and to take them to the recycling bin at Tesco, then off to Lidl for some shopping. Shopping done loaded £32 worth of shopping into the largish panniers and trundled back home. The tiny front Bafang G370 ( no larger then the...

Roadrat Alfine 8 with G370 hub build.

Finally some 18 months after I started this build, it breathes and lives. Over the weekend I tweaked and fitted the mudguards, Thule rack and this morning the Wolf tooth B- rad 3 slot bottle bottle /tool extender arrived so I could fit the battery. The latter saves me compromising the frames...

Should hub motors come with a dropout sizing guide

It's a good idea Rab, could stop a lot of problems occurring as pretty sure many don't fit the axles deep enough or fit a torque arm so we do hear of wheels spinning out.

    1000w hub motor

You will have to try and fault diagnose and carry out testing with meter. 1. How is motor power activated ? 2. Test battery out put voltage. 3. Do the same on the wiring to the display. 4, 5 & 6 later when we have answers to the first 3.

    Newbie question

At 20% charge it should take about half the time of the ah rating so 8ah approx. 4 hrs max with a 2a charger, 10ah approx. 5hrs etc, etc.

    Controller and display recommendation

If you bought the KT cheap then you did well, £30 - £50 is about their ground and for the money there aren't any others on the market that are better.

That controller should be fine, it will work with any KT lcd display and then you will get all of the parameter and settings use with KT display. The intelligent display just doens't have the correct programming for KT it would work though with Lishui controller. I have tried in the past with...

Anyone use AliExpress regularly, what's your thoughts please?

I use Ali because of the sheer amount of choice and some items one can't source elsewhere without wasting hours/days trying to search. Certainly things have changed since brexit.

    Cyclotricity Stealth Charger

So you need a charger with a dc 5.5mm x 2.1mm or a 2.5mm charge jack, without shorting the charge socket try and measure the pin dia as it may be 2.1 or 2.5mm. However it 's not all that important as one can buy a 2.1mm - 2.5mm adapter for a 2 or 3 quid. 5.5mm x 2.1 mm is pretty common so if...

    Erider model 15 brakes

Why not make is simpler and show pics of the brake calliper and the brake lever ? Then we can see what you actually have on your model and not another one that may be different.

    Controller and display recommendation

The intelligent displays aren't compatible with KT so you will get some basic functions, if you already have a KT metal controller all you need is a KT display to connect to it. Show a pic of your KT controller.

My motor is pulsing but won't keep engaged.

Is the motor connector fully pushed together to the marked raised line on the hub side of the connector ? Otherwise it may be a wire sequence issue, if it uses motor halls then there are 36 combo's and only a handful will work.

    Controller and display recommendation

Yes the same system, if the connector is a yellow and has a julet marking on it then it will be plug and play and won't need replacing. If it is a similar Higo connector from a bafang kit then it won't be compatible as the wire sequence differs.

    Controller and display recommendation

KT is cadence style PAS with 5 level of current power and not speed controlled, the PAS has no run on effect so one only needs cut offs if a throttle is fitted. The controllers are describes as torque simulation which means they se current control for a much better rider feel, one doesn't get...

Look for Kuenteng KT controller kits. Aliexpress, ebay, topbikekit, greenbike kit etc, etc. Match the controller current output so that the current value is slightly less then you battery continuous current rating.
