    Battery

It would be interesting to dunk one in the sea. 10,000 amps is going to make a big vape cloud, like everyone on the beach at Southend on August bank holiday all being able to vape at once - like it or not.

    Battery

Lithium batteries only go as high as 3.6v, so you need at least 10 for a 36v battery. They're also used in laptops, powertools and things like that, where small cells would be more convenient. You can get big 3.6v lithium cells, so you'd only need 10, but I guess the smaller ones are cheaper...

    Brakes

All that expense and messing about, when you could fit a hydraulic brake and have it sorted? Cable disc brakes are basically useless by comparison. You might get it a bit better for a short while. Christmas is coming. Do yourself a favour. You deserve it.

Yosepower don't make anything. They're just resellers.

Help! Tilting trike - getting it going again (newbie questions)

It's a magnet that goes on the wheel and a sensor that goes on the fork to detect how fast the wheel is turning. It's like those cycle computer things if you've ever had one. Without one, the LCD won't display the speed properly.

How to hide/camouflage the 750w on the motor?

You can't say that here is no difference to the speed from those motors without knowing their KV or winding speed. The 15.5 mph is set by the controller, not the motor. The motors can go much faster than that, and their maximum speed depends on the battery's voltage. The power comes from the...

    Hi folks

In case people get the wrong impression about the best types of motors, the difference isn't so much the motor, but the control system. Some bikes with hub-motors have bad control systems and some have very good ones. The bikes can also supply different amounts of power to those motors. Some as...

Help! Tilting trike - getting it going again (newbie questions)

There's very limited choice now unless you can find something on Aliexpress. previously, I'd have advised the Q128H from Bmsbattery or the 500w BPM, but all I can find from the regular suppliers is the 350w BPM. 201 rpm version will give more torque, but will max out at around 12 mph. 328 rpm...

    EBike carrier options

I bought a Peugeot Partner van. Two bikes fit inside nicely. You could probably get three in if you use a rack. It's fantastic. 55 mpg over 1200 miles so far. It's so much easier to get in and out of too.

Carrera Crossfire - 2017Cut out issues fixed?

There were several causes for the cut-outs, but the main one seems to be an over-sensitive sensor in the battery, which cannot be fixed by DIY. There's also the problem with the optical torque sensor getting dirty, but the new chainwheel looks different, so maybe they fixed it with a different...

Bearings gone I think in wheel.

I've not heard of that before, but I can't believe it's the only one. It's probably put in by hand by a guy on piece-work and easy to mess up. I've seen loose screws in the motor, and even a spare screw that didn't even belong there. I'm glad you got it fixed.

    What to choose

Assuming you're not talking about the new CX with large chainwheel, out of the two, I'd use an Active Line motor, which is more reliable and more user-friendly; however, for urban use, I wouldn't use either. A hub motor will be more reliable and is significantly more user-friendly than either of...

One for the battery experts- new pack - strange problem- Any advice?

Something is wrong with the cell-group attached to B12. As a first step, I'd charge that group up to 3.8v on their own. You can use something like this plugged into the B10 and B11 slots...

    battery percentage

I refer to the cut and pasted information from Electricbike.com in Andy-Mat's post above. I have spoken to the guy running that website and he agrees that what's written there needs changing. Have a look at it again in a few days to see how it changes.

    EBike carrier options

I wouldn't recommend anything other than a towball carrier. If you're going to do a lot of biking, pay the money and enjoy the convenience. I always look for minimum cost solutions, but this is one instance where I think it's worth paying to get a decent solution.

Carrera Crossfire - 2017Cut out issues fixed?

That's an interesting question. The problem is who's going to put their money down and test it. One thing I would say is that Halfords must have had massive grief from the last model, and I can't believe that they would sell the replacement unless it was absolutely guaranteed that it had been...
