Lithium batteries only go as high as 3.6v, so you need at least 10 for a 36v battery. They're also used in laptops, powertools and things like that, where small cells would be more convenient. You can get big 3.6v lithium cells, so you'd only need 10, but I guess the smaller ones are cheaper...

I bought a Peugeot Partner van. Two bikes fit inside nicely. You could probably get three in if you use a rack. It's fantastic. 55 mpg over 1200 miles so far. It's so much easier to get in and out of too.

I've not heard of that before, but I can't believe it's the only one. It's probably put in by hand by a guy on piece-work and easy to mess up. I've seen loose screws in the motor, and even a spare screw that didn't even belong there. I'm glad you got it fixed.

I wouldn't recommend anything other than a towball carrier. If you're going to do a lot of biking, pay the money and enjoy the convenience. I always look for minimum cost solutions, but this is one instance where I think it's worth paying to get a decent solution.
