The smell if can's is electrolyte being vented and if li-po/polymer then a burst or split cell. It would be prudent to open and check integrity of the cells inside following an impact, the likelihood of cell damage is always likely.

Don't forget if you have PAS, you will need to buy a KT lcd3 or 4 display other wise you will only have throttle use. Your current display will not work with the new controller.
