That extra cable length looks like the controller to motor connector cable or trunk cable to the dispaly, in a similar line to that which monty has said shorten it. One can buy shorter cables if one searches online, may be neater then shortening them.

The Sans mod is free and cheap esp the venting holes to dissipate heat build up. Once done the voltage pot can be trimmed as and when needed without ever opening the case again.
