    Solar Charging

Here we go again! No, actually here's some really good practical information. It looks like he's using a lipo charger to charge his batteries without BMS, so a bit easier for him. If your heart was set on solar charging and you don't have a bike yet, that would probably be a better way to go...

How long should my ebike chain last?

There are people on Youtube, and on this forum, who think that their cassette is worn after 500 miles, which would be about 10 miles on each cog.

1000 miles done on Crossfuse E

Are you sure the cassette is worn. The teeth are all sorts of odd shapes, including sharks tooth, when new.

    Help please( reversed polarity damage)

The one in the photo in this thread looks like brown, black, black, gold, brown, which would be 10 Ohms. Maybe my monitor doesn't show true colours. what do others think. https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/power-torque-increase-on-a-powabyke-euro-6-speed.10640/ Also, it's for a Euro, which...

Help! Bosch error code 530 sudden power shutdowns

If you have a removable LCD, it's worth checking the contacts on the back. Also, if you're using a Badass that divides the speed by two, it could be that the Bosch software wasn't happy with the very low speed indicated for so long if you were climbing slowly.

    dahon v brompton

Hmmm! I tried one, and I was unpleasantly surprised. Sure, you can still ride the bike, so it's still possible as a solution, but compared with a rear motor and battery mounted in the middle of the bike, which is unnoticeable concerning a bike's handling, you have to ask yourself why you'd want...

Jimmy (ebikebatteries,co.uk) will make you a custom battery in an under-saddle tool-bag. I think he does several sizes. On a light folding bike, I'd use a 20 cell battery for 6Ah and about 20 miles range. 30 cells will give 9Ah and 30 miles. He can also make you a battery any shape you want. He...

    Squeaking Bosch Performance CX motor

I can't hear you sound file. it wants me to sign up to something to access it. A fair proportion of squeaking Bosch motors are caused by the bolts that hold the motor to the frame not tight enough. It's an easy job to tighten them, which shouldn't void any warranty as long as you don't mess...

    cb26 controller clicking.

When SLAs are shagged, they read about 12v each (24v for two), but as soon as you try to draw current, the voltage collapses. As I said, if they're healthy, they should hold 26v or more after charging. The only way to know for sure that the batteries are shagged is to do a load test, or you...

    Sqeaking brakes

That's an old article. If you saw the Toure de France this year, most of them have changed over to discs. I never mentioned cables, except that OP has cable brakes.

How long should my ebike chain last?

I would chuck that chain gauge. Lubricate the chain when it makes grinding noises. Replace it when it makes grinding noises after you lubricate it.

    Sqeaking brakes

That's right. I've been building, repairing, designing and riding electric bikes for 10 years. I worked as a mechanic in an Ebike shop for three years. I've helped many popular ebike brands with their designs and specifications. I've ridden just about every type and brand of electric bike. I'm...

    Newbie from Aberdeenshire

How much you spend depends on what you expect from your bike. You can buy a perfectly adequate one for about £750 or get the perfect riding experience for £4,000. battery life depends on how much you use it. A general rule is 500 complete charges will take it down to about 80% capacity, then...

    cb26 controller clicking.

I think that it's fairly likely that the batteries are shagged. Good batteries would be around 26V. Does the controller still click when you try it with the back wheel off the ground. Also, try it like that with the charger connected.

    Sqeaking brakes

Sorry to sound patronising, but how much experience do you have of riding an Ebike on the road? From your comments, I'm going to guess not very much. Anybody with any amount of practical experience riding normal electric bikes would know how much better hydraulic disc brakes are for such bikes...
