    Bafang gear sensor

There are different versions with different cut-off times. I can't remember when and how they changed it. Also it might be a function of your controller software. Is there a delay after using the brake?

New to pedelecs and need advice on what sort of bike I should get

They either buy spare parts and fix it themselves or take the bike to the dealer and pay him/her to fix it.

    Pedal backwards...go forwards

There's a setting in the LCD that might sort it out. It determines how the controller interprets the PAS signal and its sensitivity. It's parameter C1, which has 8 values from 0 to 7. Try each of them until you get the correct operation. No harm will be done if you set it it wrong.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

This is the problem we have now. The lefties are now the hard right. The old hard right (in the UK) don't really exist. They're very small in number now, but the guys that the media label as far right are actually mostly normal people with practical and pragmatic views. They're labelled by the...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I guess you didn't look at the raw data for the north west, where TR is standing. He's independent, not Ukip.

Do hub motors have any overload protection?

If it's still working, no harm has been done. The risk is more to the controller and wiring. When you go slow, the controller gives the maximum current, but at higher speed the current is reduced by the motor. The faster you go, the less current you get, so the safer it is for the motor. If...

    Conversion questions from a newb

You have to make a judgement on how strong the drop-outs are. If you have those long ones that are angled up at about 45 deg, they'll probably spread without a torque arm. Normal vertical drop-outs would probably be OK, but it's not possible to be sure without seeing them.

    Shopper bike .

I think we need a few more photos than that. the cryptic one you have shown seems to indicate that it's one of those bikes with a custom bottom bracket, possibly with the controller contained within it. A long time ago, there was a thread, where a guy dismantled his, but I can't remember the...

    Conversion questions from a newb

    1. Yes, but if you get a hub- motor. You need to make sure it has the right speed. 2. 48v normally means 750w if you go for a mid motor. With a hub-motor at 48v, a 250w motor will be powerful enough. 3. The battery needs to be able to give enough amps for the motor controller. Whatever...

    29x2.2 low rolling resistance tyres

So, are we going to see 2.2" tyres in the Rubaix this year? I don’t think so. People have been making these claims that wider tyres are better for years. If they were, you'd see them in all the major races, where they design whatever frame they can to get every advantage they can. OP was...

Lead acid 24 volt downtube pack to Lithium pack .easy or not ?

Only two of the pins are wired, normally. You have to look inside the case to confirm, or you can check with a meter.

Upgrade from lead acid to lithium battery on a Tiny Dillenger Cheetah

Your present battery comprises a case and a couple of standard 12V SLA batteries. If you have the competence, you can open the case, chuck the SLAs and wire in a standard 24v lithium pack, which means soldering 4 wires and packing the space with polystyrene or similar. You can find loads of 24...

    Shopper bike .

It would be best to show some clear photos of the problems you have. Battery conection issues can be solved by running the wires through and using your own connector.

Wanted Cheap ebike wanted for my step-daughter

I don't think that's true anymore. Battery technology seems to have moved on. i've got loads of batteries and I don't charge any of them. when I get them out after years of storage, they always work OK.

    Recell Battery

Jimmy gives a fantastic service, and I'd recommend him to anyone, however, his service is not necessarily the cheapest if your bike has a standard Chinese battery, like a silver fish type, a frog type, dolphin (09) type, Shark (08) type, etc. If you have one of those batteries and you want the...

Lightweight urban e-bikes such as Ampler Curt, Orbea Gain F40 etc.

You can always make your own, It's not difficult. You can get a lightweight bike from somewhere, then get a Xiongda YTW-06 kit or Q100 motor and KT controller plus a bottle battery from Aliexpress. The electrical stuff will add 3 to 4 kg to the bike, so you could have a 12kg electric bike for...

    29x2.2 low rolling resistance tyres

That's weird. I wonder why they don't use 2.2" wide tyres in the Tour de France? Any ideas? The link doesn't work, but I can guess what it says.
