If you have led/lcd display and it turns off the issue is an interruption between it and the battery, could be the wiring/connection or the battery mount contacts. Sometimes an internal battery fault may be the issue.

Both bikes look like they use a lithium battery of some type lion or lipo, if that is the case all you need to do is buy new battery's or have your old ones re-celled (if it is possible )so that they will use the same mount and no need to make any other changes.

If the sensor gets squashed you need to get a wider a longer Bottom Bracket( square taper type) or replace it with a conventional two part disc/sensor. Before deciding you need to measure the gap between inner crank arm face and the Bottom bracket face.
