Dalston fatal e-bike crash rider 'going too fast' - Court Case

What seems to be implied in this case is he was going at over10mph above the legal ebike assisted speed limit of 15.5 mph but not on his own power. He may well have been below the road speed limit if it was a 30mph zone.

Dalston fatal e-bike crash rider 'going too fast' - Court Case

The law is already laid down for pedelecs regs, any one causing injury or death on the road will be dealt with within the law as it is. If you are stopped plod can confiscate your bike if they suspect illegality, if the bike is checked over and found to be illegal then they might prosecute with...

Dalston fatal e-bike crash rider 'going too fast' - Court Case

We will never know the ladies account as she perished due to the fact she was hit at speed. Likely she may have thought she had time to nip across, saw a bicycle and simply did not comprehend the approaching speed of the bike. Despite you laying the fault at the woman as being in the wrong...

    Yosepower hub kits.

You may want to be very careful and make sure it does not exceed 15.5mph by much.

Dalston fatal e-bike crash rider 'going too fast' - Court Case

No concessions will be removed for legal pedelecs, riders abiding by the law have nothing to worry about. Simply make sure your bike is limited, whether plod have time or resources to stop every ebike /pedelecs they see I doubt it. Hanlon didn't think about the consequences of riding at the...

    Yosepower hub kits.

The 250w will work fine at 48v, just remember it will have 33% more torque and speed. Torque steering will be your biggest issue so keep hold of them bars and watch cornering.

Help! Disposal or sale for spares/repairs?

Sadly it is a part of life cycle and happens, the good people pick them selves up and plod on. A case of chin up and move on, lady luck prevails for the triers in life and there are a lot of triers out there even me.

Help! Disposal or sale for spares/repairs?

Some vendors are blinkered and doubt have ridden a decent hub motor, not all hubs are the same as they are wound different for rpm speed. For instance a 270/300 rpm hub can't climb hills better or efficiently as a 201/230 rpm hub. Broken spokes on rear hubs are a bit of a myth, if the hub is...

I need some advice about replacing an Impulse 2 mid-motor

Not possible with out engineering/welding a plate and BB in place of the current drive. Sadly between all the manufacturer there is not a standard for engineering the basic frame fabrication for the mid drives all appear to be somewhat different in there dimensions frame fixture. Then there is...

Help! Disposal or sale for spares/repairs?

I live near Gatwick and ride to the Surrey Hills on and off road and use rear hub drive bikes now, I did a have a Bafang BBS mid drive kit but it has let me down a few times. For hills a good 201rpm hub with 40Nm torque bike will do the same job that a 80Nm mid drive will do. One of my rides is...

    Help! battery needs repair

After running battery voltage down and on recharging, the BMS won't fully balance charge if cells are out by more then 01- 03v per cell. As soon as the first cell group reaches between 4.15v - 4.2v then the BMS will attempt to balance by opening the high cell bleed resistors then will attempt...

Help! Disposal or sale for spares/repairs?

The fact your issue started within the first few months of ownership shows the product wasn't fit for purpose, so certainly worth trying/looking in to. I wish you well in your search for some redress and any info would be welcome for others if you post the outcomes on here. For any commute for...

New controller + LCD ordered from China

Some controllers do have slight over run on but the power/current is low so normal brake use shouldn't cause any damage, it is the throttle when it fails defaults to max power current. It is this max current that causes controller burn out if brakes are used without the cut out.

Help! Disposal or sale for spares/repairs?

Nev did you pay by credit card or use credit ? If so contact the card company to see if you have any redress, even a partial refund would be better then none. A long shot I know but worth a try if you detail/link comments to the manufacturing and wildly known major problem here in the UK & EU...

    The Law

The law regarding illegal ebike use isn't very harsh for first time offenders. The met at the tail of last Autumn and early winter confiscated about 100 pedicabs off the streets of London, the users were not prosecuted but were sent a warning letter laying down the law and consequences should...

Help! Disposal or sale for spares/repairs?

The crank axle/action like other mid drives is an integral part of the drive, remove it then you have an engineering headache to over come and any fabrication needs to be spot on for everything to align correctly not as easy without a jig to use.

New controller + LCD ordered from China

The need for a brake switch/cut off is only needed if a throttle is fitted. A brake cut off over rides the throttle to prevent the controller from going up in smoke, without the brake cut off the controller will burn out. Moisture or a wire fault can affect throttles and if this occurs you get...

Think a kit is the cost effective option, but at 18St 8Lbs, I may be wrong.

For road light trail use and low speed as per a normal bike and up to 15mph your brakes will be fine as they were previously for your use. The front brake could possibly be upgraded to Hydraulic rim brake using Magura brakes, HS11 or HS33 model cost though is about £75 - £85 each brake set...

Help! Disposal or sale for spares/repairs?

I believe the internal pawls are the weak link, they break and then cause other damage in side. Although a few years old it isn't very old so I would take it back to the Dealer shop I bought if from and try and get them to contact Kalkhoff on your behalf. Kalkhoff know the serious issue and have...

I need some advice about replacing an Impulse 2 mid-motor

Contact the Bearings man as linked to in Post #6 above by Rob. A cheaper possible gamble if motor is unrepairable is to buy a second hand working impulse bike and re fit the motor to your or use the other, recouping some money buy breaking one up and selling the parts separately...
