    Sales volumes

They used to have that in NZ too till the Yank billionaires bought the land surrounding some of the best trout fishing rivers in the world. The access is still free once you get past the guys "out hunting" with shotguns under their arms and those new hunting dogs, what are they called? Ah yes...

    Yamaha or Bosch mid drive

I saw some very nice looking Giants yesterday with Yamaha motors. But they were trekking bikes. I think the Yamaha motor looks more "solid" somehow compared to the Bosch. Maybe it is the chainwheel?

    Insurance for e-bikes

Aren't you glad you aren't in the EU! :D Here we can choose our insurance company from any country in the Euro zone. Germany and the Netherlands are in the Euro zone and they have heaps of e-bikes so the French companies (here in France) have had to adapt. "Anywhere" coverage for the full value...

E-Bike suitable for towing Special Needs Trailer

You need power not speed, you have made the right choice. You will have a small learning curve - the secret is use your gears don't let the motor bog down. As an experienced rider you will quickly get the hang of it. And the fun bit is going to be when you get it out on your own without the...

Hobby king multi star on offer

No I went with the normal ones because of the discount. I've been doing some design in my version of SolidWorks  This is the short version. The long version has room for (to my great surprise, tiny, tiny triangle on this frame) 20 Ah as in 2S2P 10 Ah batteries. It is also...

Hobby king multi star on offer

My batteries arrived. No problems, well balanced according to the tester I ordered at the same time. Still waiting on the money to order the rest of the bits so I can get out and try them. If this works out for me then I am on the hunt for a 48V controller: - sine wave - 20 Amp - with cable...

Cube Reaction Hybrid Pro/Bosch CX 500wh

I read this this morning so I thought I would try (for the first time since June) getting out in some real rain over my normal route. The battery didn't like the nippy 9°C, there is fresh snow on the top of the hills er sorry... Basque mountains :p No problems with water. Muscular problems...

E-Bike suitable for towing Special Needs Trailer

Off road and up hill in the wet? I contend that you want a well balanced trailer applying at least a little weight on the tow-bar and rear wheel drive in those conditions. I am not questioning the towing power of the models you have cited, just the physics of having the motor in the rear wheel...

Nope for a trailer off road you need a rear hub motor or a mid drive.

E-Bike suitable for towing Special Needs Trailer

The best solution is of course out of budget (way, way, way out). The main failing of this model is the motor (Bionix yuck!!!) But the idea could be adapted to another type of cargo trike. And the rider and passenger can communicate more easily.

E-Bike suitable for towing Special Needs Trailer

The throttle has to break for the bike to be out of control. With a modern EN15194 legal kit the throttle can't work if the pedals are not turning. And in most of the world the speed with a throttle is limited to 6 km/h. Are we seeing that the British throttle exception is in fact a pedelec...

E-Bike suitable for towing Special Needs Trailer

Looks like a good bike for a kit. May I recommend changing both the brakes for Magura hydraulic rim brakes, just the front one works well for me and my fully laden shopping trailer (40 kg). That will set you back just under £100 and add the price of a kit £500 with a 15 Ah battery.

    New Gtech ebike

Since when has good taste, coolness or being fashionable got anything to do with your age (or sex)? Good taste and design sense has more to do with education than being over 60 and a member of the Conservative party. Despite what many forum members would have us believe I am sure that there...

    Bafang + Brose + Hi-Tech Energy = Energy Tubes?

The peg and hammer game probably arrived the next Christmas... Seriously I saw the article a few days ago and was totally nonplussed by this battery kit. Now if there was a module that would bring connectivity features to all batteries... Oh wait! There is... http://www.speedict.com/

Round tubes do not fit all triangles. Learnt that when I was 2 years old!
