The Last Wisper Sneak Preview of the year. 12kg Road Bike

Not much of a gradient if the roadies are climbing at 18 mph! As you say, no point in an e-bike then. Road bikes like these hill assist models will only come into their own when the gradients are such that they can beat or at least equal the unpowered roadies when climbing with power. From...

The Last Wisper Sneak Preview of the year. 12kg Road Bike

Depends on the gradient, but back calculating from my own riding experience on throttle only, no pedalling, 1.3 kilos on a 10% gradient requires 5 watts. .

Pleasant ride, sunshine but something missing?

Not cheeky at all, by law they have to supply them with every new bike sold, but contrary to popular belief, they don't have to be fitted. That legal requirement was removed by the government in 1983 as part of pruning unnecessary legislation. The law only specifies supply and it's completely...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Not so, as Woosh says they are neck and neck, and that means Labour are actually doing really well. That is because, as I pointed out some while ago, it means Labour have recovered enough in the rest of the Britain to compensate for their huge loss of Scotland to the SNP. When that loss...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

To me it was always inevitable once the referendum result was announced. That left UKIP without any purpose, regardless of what sort of Brexit we'd have. In a hundred years time they may not even have a mention in history, too temporary a blip. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

None of those, I think it's predictable, since the UKIP collapse was bound to mean they went to the Tories as the other nominally Hard Brexit party. Overall it's a non-event where prediction is concerned though. There are no UKIP MPs so this same shift can't happen at a general election. The...

Looks good, very much a Cytronex competitor, that also having simple button control for power on/off but based on Cannondale road bike models with a smaller bottle battery. .

    Giant LaFree panasonic crank motor

I owned one of those Lafrees for years and liked its power-off cycling qualities. It weighs 22 kilos including the 4 kilo battery, so was one of the lightest e-bikes and that still compares well with today's e-bikes. The motor unit is very low powered though, any Bosch unit far more powerful...

The Last Wisper Sneak Preview of the year. 12kg Road Bike

Agreed, no point in flat country as I said. In hillier areas like the North Downs where I live, the roadie averages are more like the 18 to 20 mph you quoted and something like this Wisper would come into it's own. Someone who is ageing a bit, able to keep with the rest on the flat but...

The Last Wisper Sneak Preview of the year. 12kg Road Bike

And the bikes weights and ride styles very different. However, still nothing whatsoever to do with the subject, which was comparing the Wisper Wolverine against unpowered roadie bikes on a roadie ride. Who would try to use a STEPS Wisper then, they are mountain bikes so totally unsuited to the...

The Last Wisper Sneak Preview of the year. 12kg Road Bike

I don't understand? I was posting in answer to the quote, comparing Fazua with unpowered roadie bikes. A STEPS bike would be a tank on a roadie ride. .
