Colour of phase and hall sensor wires. Is it standard?

If the controller has the pas facility ( spare wire connector), you don't have to physically fit the pas sensor but just plug it in. Hold the sensor in one hand and with the other hand manually pass the magnet ring pass to test for operation, though walk assist should work as well. Even at low...

Colour of phase and hall sensor wires. Is it standard?

If phase sequence is wrong you can get a rough sounding motor, as you have mentioned it may run in reverse or not. With hall red v+ & Black v- are self explanatory & white hall is always for internal speed, if a motor runs unsatisfactory there are 36 combos of wiring sequence in all and about...

Colour of phase and hall sensor wires. Is it standard?

Nearly all hubs are China made and tend to use the same G/B/Y phase colour and the same six hall colours, match each colour to the same and generally you should have no real issue. Occasionally the sequence may not work so you have to use a set up chart to find the best working sequence. I can...

    20-25mph hub drive kit?

Realistically you need 48v @17/20a & a 270 - 300 rpm wound geared hub, which you will have to mix and match to together as well as making sure the battery has very good branded cells inside rather then mediocre branded ones. Or a 20-25a BBS crank drive and again a very good battery.

    First confrontation.

I now just smile at them and reply ' ah well ' :D. Intelligent ones are usually respectful and often a civilised enquiring chat can be had of the merits with pro's & con's. Remarks by others are to bait you, they like fishing so as to annoy or upset. Make it work the other way keep your...

Help- How do I add a throttle with my set up?

Usually with KT controller if it has 3 wire brake connector & want to use a two wire brake sensor the v+ is not used and only v- & signal is needed . So the Black and blue may on your controller is most likely the brake wire hence why there are only 2 pin red julet for the brakes.

Help- How do I add a throttle with my set up?

You don't need a speed sensor as your motor white hall connector utilises the white wire on the motor side of the cable, it has internal hall sensing for speed. Also do your julet 2 pin red connectors (brake sensor) connect to any thing or are they redundant ?

    Which kit for 30mph?

Yose 350w hub will hit 28mph @48v & 20a, I know this because I have done it with my kit. Gearing was 48/11 so may go a bit faster with taller gearing. For how long the hub /clutch will cope with such high speed and amps, nobody knows. To do this you will need a very good spec battery with...

Help- How do I add a throttle with my set up?

KT controllers usually have throttle wiring already supplied from the controller it should be a 3pin black connector. Their standard wire colour for throttle is Red/Black/Blue if that black female wire connecter in pic 3 has these colours then all you need is a throttle with sm3 male connector...

    Powabyke, constructing replacement battery

What is the max load the controller draws this will help to decide on cells to buy and how many miles does he ride on a trip. I would have thought any good 10a cell above in #2 would be more then ample.

Grinding sound from hub and error message

Loose connection causes intermittent shorting contact at the connector, the noise is the electrical current jumping and is the controller not being able to function 100%. it sounds like mechanical grinding but isn't, the noise resonates via the bike frame and appears to be a motor issue...

Grinding sound from hub and error message

Electrical bad contact sounds like a mechanical fault. Despite the wind noise there is a contact issue somewhere, it will be wiring or a controller issue. Riding with the issue will most likely lead to damage so best not too and fault find the issue. Also separate and refit the motor wire...

Horse for courses, I mainly have wide bars with ergons.
