    Brexit, for once some facts.

Relative to the mainland EU it's very clear that we are increasingly in a recessionary position, as this post by AK illustrates. .

I went one stage further for retirement, I shut the place down as I left. :) .

Not really. I watched him speaking that reply and it was clear he was being diplomatic and deliberately uncontroversial to duck a question he found unwelcome. .

Of course it wouldn't matter if we had a team of geniuses negotiating. The sheer complexity of Brexit alone makes it intrinsically impossible to deal with rationally. .

No I was referring to the EU countries saying we can't cherry pick our Brexit terms. .

That tends to be in our more exclusive private schools, and universities of course. In our state comprehensive schools it seems to have been confined to the odd experiment. Increasingly now we have privately run academies taking over the comprehensives and I've no idea of their position in...

I eventually lost patience and didn't listen to the end. The one thing I got from it was the way Cathy Newman constantly shouted Jordan Peterson down, even to the extent of preventing his replies, while Peterson didn't once interrupt her. As ever in this never ending female/male debate...

With regard to the comments from other EU members, it really should have been a hanging bunch of cherries being picked one by one. .

As I've said Tommie, I recognise all that and don't support the transgressions. I've clearly stated repeatedly that the Russian takeover of the Crimea was illegal, the referendum a device to enable that to appear justified. The dispute I'm commenting on is the Ukrainian border position on the...

Giant's Halfway was also sold with mudguards and carrier, in fact all those I saw in stock were like that. Obviously they were single side stayed also. .

No it didn't go into production, but Mike later marketed his own one with the chaincase also being a single side rear stay, meaning easy wheel/tyre removal car fashion, just like the later GoCycle. Single side is a Mike Burrows obsession, he designed Giant's Halfway folder: .

    Gazelle or Kalkhoff

Yes, that was the Sunbeam oilbath chaincase, adopted by some other makes. The chain dipped into the oil sump at the bottom of the chainwheel so ran soaked and dripping with oil and never wore out. The top rear corner of the chaincase was removable to allow some access, but of course wheel...

    Gazelle or Kalkhoff

Adding to Rob's answer, in the trade in the 1950s I used to work on bikes from the 1930s with chaincases that had never been opened and the rear wheel never taken out. Their chains obviously still perfect. Steel framed, we used frame expanders to open up the rear triangle when replacing a tube...

Precisely, "in relation the rest of the world" as you say, the Western view. Look up the agreement that transferred the Crimea to the Ukraine and you'll see no mention of the Russian industrial zone around Donetsk and Luhansk. It only mentioned the Crimea. Of course I wouldn't support Russia...

Once again, why do you keep repeating this stuff. I haven't denied that there were Russian soldiers present in those regions. I already understand there were. And I know that after the US destabilised Gorbachov's position to get their stooge, the drunken Yeltsin into power, that he recognised...

    Am I too sensitive

Yes, I'm sure it's directly connected with the type of advertising. When BMW used to run ads about their cars "rapidly appearing in rear view mirrors and quickly passing", we got certain types buying them. Now it's Audi who have more speed biased advertising. Moths to a flame. .

Wicky for goodnes sake stop misrepresenting me, I've made no claim that the Crimea was Russian, it was definitely Ukrainian as I've just posted to Daniel. Please read that post. I'm only arguing about the eastern Russian industrial region as each one of my posts has made clear. .

Almost all of this I don't and haven't disputed, I'm at least as familiar as you with the 100 year history of the Ukraine. The one part I disagree with is that Moscow centralisation. From the start of the cold war a policy of scattered production of anything military related was followed...

    Am I too sensitive

There's a second differentiation within black cabs of course, those operating in the central area and those attached to some peripheral zones. Those in the centre do have more of the bell-ends, but peripheral ones like those in my outer London Borough of Croydon tend to be better. Of course...

    Am I too sensitive

Looks odd to my London eyes! We tend to distinguish between proper taxis, i.e. licenced black cabs (not always black) and the others which are Minicabs. Most black cab drivers are ok, Minicab drivers very variable and often bad. .
