    Carrera Vulcan e problems

The Vulcan uses the same Suntour HESC drive as the Crossfire so the same issues apply. The Vengeance is a leseer spec bike but uses a Bafang rear hub motor and a dfferent electronics kit so won't suffer the same issues, Bafang hubs are pretty much bullet proof. Though at 8.8ah the battery is...

Put it in your spares bin even if you can't use the sensor the Julet and wiring may come in handy one day for extending or adapting another bit of kit.

You can fit it to both sides, you need to secure the disc so that is spins with axle. The issue is if there is any gap between crank arm and bearing face. Behind the crank set is an easier place to hide it, screw, epoxy or zip tie the disc to the crank ring. DAS kit in Germany sell a specific...

Xiongda YTW-06 front hub motor into Norco Indie 3

You can confirm if you have a sensored hub or not by how many pins the motor wire has or the motor wire connection to the controller. 3 pins NO or 8/9 pins YES.

Xiongda YTW-06 front hub motor into Norco Indie 3

A very nice clean build, you have to look twice to see the it is a front hub motor. The only issue I see (though you may sorted it now) is to use a slim Velcro band and just secure the motor cable to the fork.

    Faulty eCarrera Crossfire

Something I knew that wouldn't solve the issue, I am 100% sure it is an issue with the battery, a thermal overheat cut off otherwise either bms or cells. speaking of cells does anyone know what cells are being used. The boffins at Suntour may have devised a system that is too clever for it's...

    Carrera E replacement.

The V6/12 isn't usually suitable for Octalink or Holltech/Gxp. You can try as long as there is enough axle length left for the crank to tighten on to properly, if so you need to shorten them splines on the V6 so that they get a bite on the axle to rotate. If not you need the std 10 or 12 poles...

whats the best method of carrying a spare dolphin battery please?

A hard pack battery on the down tube then a couple of soft packs in a rear top bag set up in parallel, using the zip down panniers for tools and other bits and bobs. The weight is carried better on top then on the sides. Soft packs about £50 cheaper for same 10s5p config and of late a wider...

A little lost and just a bit confused from Devon

Mileage is always speculative depending on many factors ranging from rider effort, assist level used, terrain, speed and wind just to name a few. The battery is 10ah/360wh so a realistic range will vary from 20 - 36 miles imho.

Stealth battery won't charge - suspect BMS

The switch is on the discharge side so no power when connecting battery to bike, means no spark crack to damage contacts.

A little lost and just a bit confused from Devon

Yes, like for like with a similar 36v 10ah lithium celled battery it should perform better and have a life of about 3 or 4 times of lithium ion under the same use. The downside for lifepo4 over lithium ion is less range/mileage per charge. The reason they are heavier is the chemisty, it is...

    Am I too sensitive

Lorry drivers I find are always professional and generally give plenty of room, they always get a thumbs up from me or flash or two of the best headlight. Worst drivers Taxis & Audi a**eh*les.

As you say they are fine. If willing to use Ali express then switching BMS from Ann Battery is a reliable good seller I have used. Three bms with switch...

Mud plugging use is fine usage for them, the spanner in the works is peeps like to clean them then get them dirty again. So out comes the hose pipe or pressure cleaner, leave them a bit dirty brush of the worst loose crap give a wipe over with an oily rag and put them away as the next ride they...

What's the best way to strip insulation from very thin wire?

Thin silicone wire 20awg and less I use my thumb and middle fingers nails to cut and pull the insulation off. On stiff wire I often use the hot solder iron shaft to make the insulation pliable to pull off.

Bike Purchase Advice - 22 Mile (one way) Commute

As do Samsung, LG, Sanyo etc,etc cells from all producers very some what depending on the use they are needed for. At the mo for pannier or top rack bag use there are some very good softpack cell options available for quite good money with MJ1, 35E or 30Q cells. I might not be the only one but...

A little lost and just a bit confused from Devon

The Safari uses the older LIFEPO4 chemistry a bit heavier then lithium ion but will out live the lithium ion when it comes to longevity and voltage sag is also better so ideal for hills, for the money I doubt you will find a better steed. The hub gears are unusual for an ebike and need no...

    Faulty eCarrera Crossfire

All the hub dose is covert any delivered electrical power to turn the motor axle, delivery of said power is supplied by the battery via the controller. To lower the power then the amps from the controller or battery voltage will need to be reduced.
