    Traction problem with Big Bear

The BPM/CST both are about 4.4kg they are 160mm dia hubs. You should have little issue with rear hdb at most you might have to use a180mm rotor and caliper adapter so an extra cost £15-20. Some drop out filing will be needed ( most probably 2 - 4mm deeper) to allow the axle and AR washer tabs...

And all of a sudden...there were no lights.....

I got two that are now out putting 42.6v so don't use them as I no longer trust them. You could plug it in for an hourr or two and keep an eye on the charge voltage manually to see if it will still shut off or not when 42v is reached.

    Traction problem with Big Bear

It does seem a bit point less riding around with 4.4kg dead weight. But with your sit up and beg position and with all the rear weight inc battery you may find the front becomes a little light on the steep hills having the rear power so the extra front ballast may come in handy.

    Traction problem with Big Bear

o_ONow you are being silly!!! The front motors bar a few for small wheels are suited for 100mm wide drop outs, somehow they don't fit in a 135mm wide rear drop out. For towing or light riders a rear bpm /cst is the best option with a hub. As my kit was surplus I fitted it to an old HT mtb frame...

Hi, i have CFS, wondering if an ebike is right for me and which type?

The Boardman I built from scratch, I picked up a used CX frame and Suntour susp forks not far away. Unless a bike has some special attributes then most are easy to convert, if fitting a rear hub check the drop outs are suitable for a little filing of 2 - 4mm. The handling is great even with...

Hi, i have CFS, wondering if an ebike is right for me and which type?

All kits electrically are plug and play esp if includes a battery. If no battery then when you source one you may have to solder the wires together of fit a suitable connector. Fitting wise you need to be able to do some fettling mainly by filing the dropouts for the axle to fit.

    Anybody had this battery problem?

The first is a 5p dolphin and the second a 6p whale which has another 10 cells a bigger case and heavier, the 6p will suffer less battery sag over the 5p due to the extra cell in parallel. If you want long range 50 miles + and have hills to climb and can afford it then go for the whale. The...

Is an undercurrent of racism and misogyny undermining The UK Electric Bike industry?

Cosybike has got a bee in his bonnet from somewhere. Something has obviously upset him to make such a statement and as mentioned probably in the Brexit thread, which most of us don't give a toss about. SInce I've been on the forum I don't recall any one mentioning race or disparaging remarks to...

    Anybody had this battery problem?

Quite a useful suggestion from AK, my two Oxydrive celled batts are now both a bit tired 22F & 26F cells and on their own show it but by paralleling them in use they are better. For you 9 mile route and not de-restricting the 29E celled 10s 5p battery is still a reasonable battery with a max...

Cheapest viable conversion? (not including battery)

The 15nm torque of the 250w hub is quite weedy any decent ascent will see it struggle. The offerings from Elifeshop and YSBattery both have kt controllers and lcd which gives 5 levels of assist also hubs have 30nm torque so will be better for ascents. Although double the price will give more...

Do you think my bike can handle this journey?

It's all about the cells inside used , in a lot of cases 11ah use Samsung 22F (Green) which is only a 4.4a cell so if only 4p = 17.6a max or if 5P 22a max. With a 15a controller they can and will be pushed hard at times and 1- 2 years of top range would be good before they deteriorate.

    Anybody had this battery problem?

Not sure if Elifeshop 2012 is a sister company of Elifebike/PSWPower or not. The two batteries offer higher capacity but the reason they are not over £300 is the cells again are low amp rated. LG F1L 4.7a and the Sam 33G 6.4a. Very few high capacity cells can give high amp output as well, and...

Hi, i have CFS, wondering if an ebike is right for me and which type?

There are two selling the same kit YSBattery 2012 and elifeshop 2012, could be the same seller. The hubs appear to be 270 - 290 rpm.

    Anybody had this battery problem?

Yes, the battery I mentioned is no longer available. That one probably uses Samsung 26F which are only a poor to mediocre cell, ok for low power. For 15- 20a they will be ok for about 12 - 18mnths then capacity goes down quite a bit.

New Legal Speed Limit: What should it be?

20MPH is a nice speed to toot a long at. Though what ever hypothetical speed is suggested others will always want more.
