    Brexit, for once some facts.

Living is by far the greatest cause of deaths among all life forms on Earth. Pollution is alleviating the problem by reducing the incidence of living. .

Would compulsory insurance for all electric bikes put you off?

Wish that was true. The speed limit on pavements is 4 mph but on roads they are permitted 8 mph. In practice many of them can go very much faster and the speed is under the control of the riders, some of whom are hooligans. .

It will probably use the existing system from BMW's i3 e-car, very similar size etc. It'll be interesting to see if they have a range extender Mini version, using the same twin cylinder petrol engine. .

Yes, how many times do i have to say it? He doesn't want power at the moment and have to handle Brexit. That's a no win job. Next time after March 2019 he'll still sit on the fence if it's necessary to win, but come off it if the country is decisively Remain then. He's been a long time in...

Well said Steb, it baffles me how few understand this. .

That means GM foods I daresay, something the EU will not accept. Personally they don't worry me. .

But those were non-events which i recognised as such at the time. The Cold War was one of the few occasions when almost all of the people were fooled all the time. And they didn't affect our lives and prospects at home, which is what I was speaking of. .

Probably yes, I feel for today's 20/30 somethings. The uncertainties of their futures are disturbing to say the least. I was born into an uncertain period which soon lapsed into a long world war, but from then prospects were almost continuously on an upward trajectory. Job availability was...

Ah, but it's a Williams hub motor, reputedly. Though I wouldn't be surprised to find that it's a fairly standard Chinese DD design. If what the MD said is true, it's going to fail in the market anyway. He said it does 20 to 30% of the work, which makes it the lowest powered of all, even lower...

The curiousity is diminished by the certainty that Brexit will fail. And since I doubt we could get back into the EU within ten years from leaving, it's unlikely I'll be around to see that, and certainly won't experience how that works out. .

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

Afraid not. One person started collecting data on some bikes in connection with the Kalklhoff Impulse saga, but that was vestigial last it was shown. E-bikes are so recent that they have been in a constant state of evolution, so any collected data is quickly invalidated and would only be...

I sympathise with your situation in Northern Ireland, which I understand could well shape opinion about the EU. But here in England and given our history and record since WW2, my opinion is the opposite. The EU certainly isn't bankrupt, in fact it's been bucking up lately, but yes, it's...

Yes there's certainly a lot of truth in that. Remainers who called Brexiters "little Englanders" were reflecting that. .

Thanks, as I suspected very loaded. Given the public's ignorance of the subject and their uncertainties, they will largely tend to vote for the status quo, better the devil you know etc. The huge gap between status quo and the other options clearly indicates that. .

Would compulsory insurance for all electric bikes put you off?

Since almost all drones are going to have to be registered, together with a check on operator competence, that would bring much more bureacracy to e-biking. .

This was my reply on this subject in the Brexit thread: Don't worry too much, the EU Commission are constantly putting up such ideas. Previously we've had helmets for all bikes, helmets for all e-bikes, more recently only full-face helmets for mopeds. They generally disappear, often overruled...
