Does the bike I need exist at the right price...

have you looked at the Greenway? They still sell the cross with Bafang Max Drive for £1,000 on their website. It's easy enough to upgrade the tyres to Marathon Plus tour. It will do easily 25 miles on a single charge, more if you upgrade the battery.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I usually do. My post was in reply to oldtom's conclusion: With hindsight, I should have perhaps included the above quote. This thread started with remainers holding what you may say a factual high ground if such a thing exists. Now remainers tend to wander off into side issues and indulge in...

E-BIKES ARE TAKING OFF IN THE UK – AND A NEW TAX BREAK COULD ENCOURAGE EVEN MORE PEOPLE TO SADDLE UP

Then I wish staff would form their own cooperative to buy bikes and run C2W themselves. The cooperative will need a credit license to operate. Members pay in 50% of the price that their bikes will cost. The cooperative then buys the bikes and re-imburse the employees each month as they receive...

Converting a Dutch bike to electric

would you post some pictures of the donor bike? A kit suitable for pulling heavy load is usually based on a strong motor, BPM or BBS02. A strong motor needs a strong frame and good brakes.

E-BIKES ARE TAKING OFF IN THE UK – AND A NEW TAX BREAK COULD ENCOURAGE EVEN MORE PEOPLE TO SADDLE UP

I agree about the 2% marginal NI for the employee. I don't think you have to charge VAT on rentals. It's certainly not on the guidance notice. http://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/20101124142120/http:/www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/sustainable/cycling/cycletoworkguidance/pdf/518054/ At the bottom of...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

oldtom, what do you think the Windsors have done to influence brexit one way or the other? If they haven't, then taking a dig at them is uncalled for.

E-BIKES ARE TAKING OFF IN THE UK – AND A NEW TAX BREAK COULD ENCOURAGE EVEN MORE PEOPLE TO SADDLE UP

Some schemes allow the users to pay the 10% admin fees directly to us, some allows us to add the 10% to the basic price and some (eg cyclescheme) insists that the quoted price is the lowest as advertised. Our prices are already low, we can't absorb their fees so after years of trying to talk to...

this is the freewheel (clutch) - it's difficult to get to, but not impossible. As you can see, it's a robust mechanism but it can sometimes get jammed.

    Shimano Steps running smaller tires

how about mentally subtract 3% to account for 1.5" tyres? Treat 10.3 miles on the LCD as 10 miles when on 1.5" tyres.

my third theory is he is blowing compressed air on the spokes. The jet goes through the groove in the middle of the rim, hits the small rectangular sails that are welded to the spokes. The steel ball is for misdirection.

you can connect the bluetooth adapter but I don't know what you can do with it beside replicating what you see on the LCD. It does not do data logging.

    Recommendations for heavy rider...

both Big Bear LS and Santana CD can take your weight but I would say Big Bear LS is better for you. More relax, just pedal, no need to change gear. The LS motor is also more robust and very well proven. The motor on the Santana CD is suitable for up to 15st.

we all know that perpetual motion does not exist unless you could somehow connect this universe to another in a different dimension. the acceleration of the wheel is too fast to make the idea that the ball moves the wheel using only its potential energy believable. tisme, in the first minute and 20 seconds, there is no trick. The ball is held up by the magnet. If you were the ball, you will feel weightless, meaning the forces exerting on the ball cancel each other. The ball cannot make the wheel move any more than you can without touching the wheel. To...
